Bad Survive! Deserves A Permanent Post In The Hall Of Shame

Man, you leave BF for ~10 years and you miss a lot.

Salted my old account years ago when I decided to take some time off from buying and just enjoy what I have. Unfortunately, I was unaware of this thread and recently decided to break that time off by... you guessed it.

lol and the edge chipped as well cutting small branches off of a bush (they were a few mm thick). To be fair Guy did resharpen the knife and send it back to me.

I had a GS0 3.5 in 20CV years ago that I loved the design of but had chipping problems with. Sold it but missed it, and decided to check what Survive was putting out nowadays. Saw the EDC-4 around the same size, and now in K890 which would hopefully alleviate my chipping issues? In stock, too! 3-15 day timeline promised. Sounds great, right?

If you order one, please let us know the day you order it and then report back in two weeks to see if it actually is delivered. It will be an interesting experiment, I am not willing to gamble my money again.

Well, let my experience be that experiment.

Waited for over a month, contacted multiple times and got told "next few days" multiple times. Once I asked to just cancel my order for a refund, radio silence. Had to submit a dispute with my bank.

So... there you go. Love their designs, love their price point, and I would've loved to get my hands on that knife. But unfortunately that knife doesn't seem to actually exist.

New video up on YouTube. Niagara is threatening a defamation lawsuit so he made another video.
Oh I felt that coming.
I felt it deep in my plums.

The line between having an opinion and defaming a business is a fine one. I picked up on Guy changing his verbiage, adding “in my opinion, anyway” to statements about the quality of Niagara’s Magnacut.

i can’t watch the video right now, but I’m guessing the “threat” is actually a cease and desist, which is the next step on the path of a competent legal maneuver.

Step 1) offer good faith compensation to maker the offended party whole.
Step 2) send a cease and desist
Step 3) lawsuit

i feel bad for the unsuspecting customers that are going to lose money when S!K goes under. however, the sooner this happens the fewer new victims Guy will rip off.

To be fair, if the folks who haven’t gotten a knife in almost ten years haven’t figured it out by now, that’s kind of on them. There’s a limit to just how unsuspecting a customer can be.

I got suckered in as a new customer for a pre-order because I saw Guy's videos and videos of several YouTuber's shilling for Guy. I should have done more research but I saw several sources talking about how good the knives were and none of them commented on the delivery problem. The pre-order page says 90 days. I was that unsuspecting customer; the person new to the drama. I realized it later after I stumbled on more info and, luckily, I was able to get my money back through my bank/credit card. I was the person Guy counts on to keep the grift going. I'm glad my eyes were opened and I got out, but there are many more out there that will fall into the trap, and it disgusts me that there are still YouTubers, etc. carrying water for Guy and promoting this scam.

Another completed order.

my point is, how long did it take you?
Some people have been letting S!K hang on to their cash for almost 10 years.
They should understand what's happening by now.

2 posts (unfulfilled purchases) on this page show the importance of keeping this thread alive and informing people of the risks dealing with Survive! Knives. They're a blight to the whole knife community.

Oh, yeah, the people still waiting for years should know. I found out about the long standing problems about 6 months after placing my pre-order, so I immediately moved to get my money back. I bet most can't get their money back even if they wanted because it has been too long for PayPal or the bank to do it, and S!K doesn't seem to issue refunds. The "unsuspecting" ones are the new customers. The shills posting comments supporting Guy while waiting years for a knife are delusional ones.

The YouTube comments are...something.

One guy says Survive! is the only company he'll buy American steel tools from...I hope he doesn't actually need those tools.

In another reply, Guy says that he's not looking for any compensation or replacement material, but just wants to spread awareness. For as much as his mission is spreading awareness, he sure doesn't seem to like it when people spread awareness about him and his business practices...

you are impying that their knives are bad? not true. I have GSO8 and GSO4, both tested hard in the woods, no problems at all. But sadly company is BS regarding not geting the knife. But if you get it somehow, it is perfect in every way.

…..huh ? A tool of any kind that is needed should not be counted on if it can’t be delivered!

They suck man. My butter knives are better than anything survive have ever made. A Pakistan Damascus 5 dollar leaf spring is better. Screw survive, they are amateurs.

I'm implying that buying a knife from Survive doesn't mean that you'll receive a knife from Survive. I couldn't care less how they perform.

They are not perfect in every way. The gso 4 is a little thick for its size imo, unless you want it as some type of larpy one tool survival knife, in which case it’s too short. It’s heavy for a 4 in blade compared to a custom with a good skeletonized and or tapered tang and appropriate thickness. The handle ergos are way outdone by other makers. My 4.5 was nothing special at all in that regard. The gso 8 handle doesn’t look particularly amazing at chopping which he says it’s designed for. I can think of many better examples of a chopper around that size.
They’re just standard US production blades with good fit and finish…nothing otherworldly about them
