I have been talking to Guy periodically over the last 6 months sharing with him my thoughts on what he needs to do to get this thing turned around. He was gracious about everything I said, but politely told me in so many words, "I got this, don't worry."
He replied today to a message I sent several days ago... He told me he thinks the ballgame is over. He mentioned his ex wife or soon to be ex wife, didn't exactly keep the best records so their financial situation is worse than he thought; I know, pointing the finger at someone else. He mentioned his machinist, who moved from Idaho with him to PA, is going back to Idaho due to family issues; a huge blow. He seemed pretty despondent about the situation he is in.
I've been watching some of his early videos where he talks about the backlog and refunds. He simply bit off more than he could chew and drastically under capitalized the company in the process. He might be a great designer and have incredible attention to detail, but he lacks the skill set needed to run a business.
I suggested to him to try to find a knife company who can buy him out so at least there is still a way for the people who are owed knives can still get them. But I suppose Chapter 7/11 bankruptcy might be his only realistic option now...With all that said, I feel badly for the people who paid him for knives and will likely never receive them. It's a shame and it could have been avoided.
