Bad Survive! Deserves A Permanent Post In The Hall Of Shame

Fuck me I guess. It still blows my mind how the business side could be run so poorly. It's not like he came up with something that didn't work. They had lots of people that wanted to buy their product...and paid up front. They must have taken on some really bad loans. It sure doesn't sound like they have anything to show for the last10 years.
Sounds like the problem is the same as always. Guy.

HST said that Guy would grind for a few days until new cash infusion would come in from preorders. Then he would just stop working and do something else. He would spend an unhealthy amount of time on social media to the point where HST deleted the apps on Guy's phone.

Then he would work for a little and just wander off to take a walk. He also was controlling to the point where he wouldn't let other people take over processes. There was no world where someone like guy could keep a business running.

RabidRat just posted them same thing I did at the same time. ;)

Recommendation to Survive! sell the blanks to a reputable maker. Provide a list of those who have pending orders to that maker. Fade into the ether.

Pretty sure that was what happed to Hide Away Knives, after the former owner...screwed the pooch.

How would that work? The new knife maker isn't going to make any money off it unless the people who placed the original orders were willing to pay an additional amount for the blades to be finished. Then they also would have to deal with all of the logistics of it.

They could probably work at McDonald's part time and make more money.

Sales from the blanks go to pay for the knives that were not delivered...maker finishes the knife, ships it. then has 1000's of additional blanks to work with.

But I don't know...just thinking through possible solutions for those out cash and product.

I love this line of thinking but I can’t imagine too many prospective purchasers of the blanks/equipment would be interested in that. If the equipment is in good enough shape and the price is low enough I could see a slim path of being able to ship out the blanks to the people who paid but the equipment and remaining blanks would essentially have to cover all that shipping cost and the man hours, which isn’t a small feat for thousands of orders. Even the packaging adds up rapidly at that point.

Literally the mentality of a street dwelling con-artist.

Scheme too get money. Get money. Stop doing the thing that got you the money. Live on the money until it runs out. Figure out how to get more money.

That last part, for guy, was to construct a quasi ponzi scheme that evolved with each iteration until all bridges were burnt. And this is the end result.

It's low life criminal behavior, just made fancy with luxury items and the internet.

Imagine if guy and ellie had just worked an honest low skill service industry job for the last decade. They'd have climbed the ladder a bit and probably be making a decent wage right now. It's not so bad to just be a regular working class shlub, like so many of the rest of us. Crime did not pay in this instance.

I'm not an Instagram user, but someone on Reddit just shared an Instagram post from Guy saying that they are "winding up operations" but still working hard to fill as many orders as possible.

I wonder what the diehard supporters are thinking now.

Intellectual property? 🤦‍♂️ I once had a guy trying to sell me his "client list" along with some of his equipment when he was closing up shop, as if it would be doing me a favor... If I'd wanted work in the area he was in a pennysaver ad would have been more than enough to get work. Some people have no shame.

I'm pretty sure anyone who's interested in the equipment is well aware of the "mistakes" those jagoffs made, and wouldn't want to mention that they had anything to to with them.
