Bad Survive! Deserves A Permanent Post In The Hall Of Shame

Another Reddit post appeared last night/this morning by some poor soul who sent Guy/Survive $489 three years ago and has nothing to show for it. Unfortunately this person seemed unaware that "things are wrapping up" at Survive and they will never see their knife until some commenters let them know. Strangely, he says he'd been following Survive since the beginning...seems like he would have caught wind of the reality of things if that was the case.

I wish I made enough money that I could lose track of 500 bucks for 3 years and that not be a problem.
General comment? I have no idea how these people could be possibly caught off guard.
There's people who've been waiting 9 years. What? How?

I'm guessing...... but I'd think they were only following guys and fanboys social media propaganda. where comments complaining were deleted and blocked. meanwhile seeing the fan boys cheer about how great all is in guyland. all these evil companies trying to derail guys knife production, cause they can't stand guy moving the industry to extreme perfection on the cheap. these evil companies only want flawed knives and steels in the market place....basically they fell for the ultimate knife industry bs conspiracy....

let's not forget the direct lies from guy and his gal and others that were there......telling them all is good...theirs is ready to be sharpened, waiting on a sheath for it, they're next in line etc

now this amount of time seems extreme and I agree I personally would have stepped up my fight much sooner. some im thinking just gave up. they just stayed hopeful guy was a decent man and would make them right. all the social media they watched said as much. guys magic math charts showed it.......they were very wrong about guy. way too trusting and naive. I do feel bad for them. regardless of all the warnings and obvious...I hate seeing folks get taken advantage of, lied to and basically robbed.

Remember when HST made his video while he was at the factory and Guy just "happened" to be on a coffee break?
The one time you would think he needed to have at least an appearance of working but nah. And it's not like HST was in another area and Guy was caught by surprise.
The Tortured Artiste that is Guy Seifert doesn't care about a little thing like customers.

selling survive knives to each other for $990 bucks?🤷‍♂️
Probably a fake sale by Guy to bump the price on what he's got left. You dont have to use PayPal and as long as nobody complains they assume the sale was real and everyone is happy. Two new fake accounts plus the first sale is free coupon is all it takes and nobody pays.

Their page on FB has a lot of people going off and telling the truth about Survive. There has been an influx of knife sells too. For the first time they haven't been kicking everyone off that has an issue with Survive. You could ask where is my knife and wham you are banned. There is a new video up from survive and Guy is defending his so called honor. He is showing knives and states he is trying to get someone to do the work up to their standards and is still bashing the steel. He is living with a friend yet he says he is living in the shop too. Claims the fault lies with everyone else and is bashing all those in the past that worked with him. Ellie has left the business along with everyone else. He returned most of the equipment. The con will not stop.

Also some of the fanboys whom I think is really fake Guy accounts have been deleted. They only cared with conning people into sending in money and had no intent of getting the knives out.

I think it rather remarkable that over the span of all this time, not one apology has been uttered - to my knowledge, anyway. Hell, even if a situation was beyond my control, I'd still be apologizing to my customers. Perpetually passing the buck is never a good look.

yup, and that's the rub- the Achilles' heel of Guy Seiferd is that he can't see how he's part of the problem (perhaps the whole problem).
What you describe is what good leaders do. If there's a problem, they own it, because there's almost no case where the business owner couldn't have positioned themselves better.
Guy can say whatever he wants to about who's fault it is but at the end of the day, if he'd had the capital, he could have recovered.
Even if I give Guy the shadow of a doubt... assume he's on the up-and-up and trying to run a legitimate outfit... His business model was doomed for failure.
He had no rainy day money set aside for the case when things didn't go as planned.

Deadlines will be missed, product will get fudged, suppliers might have trouble delivering, he could end up hospitalized for a month... stuff's going to happen.
It's not obvious to me that Guy had any backup plan. Even if a supplier messes up an order, that doesn't change the promise he made to customers.
That takes upfront capital to fund the solution, and then worry about getting compensation back later.

It's obvious Guy was using preorders as his chief source of funding which, as countless people here have said before, is a terrible plan.
He can't even refund the customers because he doesn't even have their money anymore.

As a businessman, he failed miserably. As a conman, he's succeeded to this point.

Guy might me setting up one hell of a redemption arc after he comes back from his backpacking trip armed with knife making skills from the Far East.

Oh please... He's out there showing the far east how to run the con.

I think that's been done already.

If memory serves, the fellow behind American Kami made the claim of learning knifemaking from Nepalese craftsmen and made that part of his marketing. He then got to a point where he was taking money and not delivering knives, eventually disappearing.

Maybe he was Guy's mentor.
