Bad Survive! Deserves A Permanent Post In The Hall Of Shame

Does he mean money borrowed from an actual bank that expects interest to be paid? So predatory. It's very different from the interest-free small business loans he's used to getting from customers.
And this is all because Millit couldn’t make anything to Guy’s fabulous specifications. The system is rigged, I tell ya! Rigged!

I think he'd be gone in a day from there for lack of delivery.
People who pay just get the same video of Guy, head in hands, crying while sitting on an unfolded hide a bed in somebody else's family room next to a beat up army dufflebag full of clothes and his cap perched on top.
Actually for $5 this might be the best value Guy ever delivered.

This thread from 2016 is a good read for those new to this company's path littered with empty excuses.

It also highlights in neon flashing lights an endless list of excuses, which go back to at least 2014 - 2015.

Oh boy, look at how vehemently some folks defended survive!

wow. the post from Ellie in that thread was the final straw for me.

Funny to think that orders that were discussed in that thread from 2016 are still not filled.

BTW, which member started the FB fan page? They openly posted about it here, so I am not trying to dox anyone. I am curious if they are still active or left the site.

The initial group that supported S!K was super cool, and I really enjoyed interacting with them here and on FB before the drama. If I remember correctly, I was one of the first 50 or so members of the FB fan page, and it was a really friendly place back in the day...

Ewww...

I left the FB group after I got scolded for mentioning wait times and delivery concerns. Got told something like “if you have to bring that up, this isn’t the group for this, do it again and we’ll boot you.” So I just left before they could kick me.

Given how this played out I wonder what the idiot fan boys think now.

Ran across this, regarding Survive! and Crucible:

With all their bridge-burning within the industry, to say or believe they have any decency to fulfill backorders is a pipe-dream.

I think Survive "wrapping up operations" makes it clear the issue was not the steel. Did Survive get some bad steel? Yes, maybe a couple of dozen blades worth, max. Nothing that should stop the production of thousands of blades. The Magnacut "issue" was indeed a smoke screen.

I have a little more insight into the whole situation, and it is actually worse than most even realize. The best guess is about 5000 (3800 orders, but some are more than one blade) blades are owed to customers. (in addition to significant debt to vendors who were not paid, and significant materials from OEM work they were supposed to do, personal loans) If you figure the average blade is $286, that means in the end that means Survive has taken about $1,430,000 from the knife community for knives they will not deliver. Ever. I would estimate the total unpaid debt (all groups) to be close to or north of 2 million dollars.

So, the "issue" with Magnacut was to obscure the reality of their situation.

I don't know if there has ever been a larger scandal in the knife world, especially as it relates to the non-delivery of product, and the length of time it continued.
