Take a peek at Cold Steel's 2008 lineup

Is this the 'slashing meat inside a pant leg lab'?

Yes it the "cut the meat in pant leg, cut scene, change to new knife and show how great the edge retention is lab"

I heard they go through a knife every time they change scene. You can't slash cardboard, stab through car hood, cut rope and claim the razor edge holds up to that.

The best one is the punchline worlds strongest "(sharpest knives)"
The worlds sharpest knives are owned by the people with the best sharpeners. And that are willing to spend the time getting a hair popping
edge
With better steel I must add, they are behind in the super steels market.Their best steel is midgrade at best. lol:barf::thumbup:

The Vaqueros series is pretty unique but not sure what they're intended for. Art?

Cool stuff and half of it probably banned from CA. Anyone know if spears are legal in CA? Would be useful for chasing the neighbors cat out of the yard :) (kidding, i wouldn't use a spear on a cat...
oooh blowguns)

I've used a Vaquero Grande in the woods for years. It's a great pocket machete for clearing weeds and thorns from the trail.

I picked up a second VG for backup, but the first one never wears out. Those idiot serrations keep cutting, the edge hasn't rolled or chipped, and the lockup is still perfect.

Frankly, I think Lynn intended them for fighting. They are a similar design to the old Spanish navajas.

Sword canes and blowguns are pretty much illegal in CA. I think everything else is legal to own. Legal to carry? Varies somewhat. Carrying a spear will likely attract unwanted attention just about anywhere.

As far as Vaqueros? What are any knives for? Cutting stuff? Knifesturbating? If you have to ask...

Just wanted to chime in and say I'm glad the scalper pattern in back, although I consider the material a downgrade. I tested one of the old scalper blades of Carbon V and got a hardness in the 59-60 range. Wish I'd been able to do a better handle, but the owner seems happy, so who am I to complain. I am also very interested in the pocket bushman. If the grind is as thin as it appears, this may be a winner. If its as thick as the "hollow ground extra thin" edge on the old safekeeper series, well, thats what belt sanders are for. Anyone else notice the Archangel is missing?

The Boar Hunter, American Lawman, folding Bushman, and new ploy-handled G.I. Tanto all appeal to me. I have the cord wrapped GI, and it's a hell of a tough knife (though mine hasn't been subjected to any noss-esque tests :D). THeir high end stuff is pricey enough that I'd probably go with other companies, but their newer low to mid range items have impressed me quite favorably. Say what you will about Lynn, I gotta hand it to him, he's certainly willing to put out some wierd (but sometimes wonderful) stuff.

Several of the folders and the newer Tanto without the cheasy cord wrap like on the one I have look very nice.

Could be a while, a long while, before we see any of these (except the newly-handles fighters: Warhead, G.I. Tanto, and Shanghai Shadow, which seem to be available now). They finally put a couple of their new items on their main site a couple days ago with an estimated release of 3/31/08. Knowing how they've bumped release dates multiple times in the past, I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see any of these in stores for several months. :(

I think Lynn Thompson must have shares in a polypropylene injection moulding firm judging by the amount fof polyprop stuff they have in their line up. Its cheap stuff so it helps to keep the price down.

With LT, anything is possible. :D It seems like pretty tough stuff, though, and I'd prefer it on the fighters over the cord wrap (YMMV).

One thing I can tell though; Cold Steel puts the pocket clips too low on these folders. Those Rajah folders have the clips halfway down the handle. Other than that I really like the designs I mentioned
I have lots of CS Voyagers (tanto, clip, all sizes) and I couldn't agree more. Whoever designs the clips on their folders is a 'tard. I usually cut and re-profile the tip of the clip to allow easier pocket attachment. But CS clips are still mounted stupidly low and usually they cover up aggresive grip serrations that will eventually shred your pockets (instead on a smooth insert surface). CS just can't seem to crack the pocket clip formula. Maybe copying SOG or Kershaw would be a good start...

I've seen them during the last Shot Show, I like almost all knives of Cold Steel... and I own many of them.
But Western Hunter and Long Hunter are really horrible, they don't look like Cold Steel knives...

I've got a "Canadian belt knife" with the Grivory handle, ugly but it works nicely. I suppose it could get melted. Matches my Glock :)
