Terrible experience with SmedleyButler

I wonder what knife will be in the box and I wonder why the OP would ever ship an unpaid for knife.

Mr. SmedleyButter, I know you said it was shipped already but could you at least describe the knife you shipped back? Does it look like the one in the photos?

^THIS. Yes, Smedley. We'd all like to hear the answer to this I'm sure.

Rounic , I don't sell anything on BFC or should say I haven't yet. However my wife runs a business from home and I do buy and sell at quite a few place on the net. I will only do business one of two ways and don't want to sound like a broken record. Either with an established trusted client on credit or PayPal goods and services before the transaction I don't even offer the friends and family option. I also take credit cards but that's a whole other story.

In the few instances of trouble we've had PayPal has stood behind and resolved the issue rather quickly. I don't understand why folks in the exchange even offer the F&F option. Every time I see the "net to me" I cringe, just make it the price you want and add the fees. It protects buyer and seller, everybody's happy that way. Rounic this was not be any means a poke a you just some friendly advice and a bit of a rant. I will be sure to put SmedleyButler on ignore.

Understood. I am guilty of posting "NET to me" to be honest, however I (in my mind) justified it as best price for the buyer and as acceptable to me. As I stated before I never ever refused or argued with anyone telling (post here if I'm lying guys) me they would prefer goods and services. I'd eat the fees well before I made anyone uncomfortable. NET to me meant the price plus fees. Having said that - I do hear you and I do understand. I am not going to list anything without including PP fees into the posted price from here on, it's either sell it or keep it.

Everything you see me list from here on includes all fees (shipping and/or payment) guys. If anyone feels that I overcharged them or made them uncomfortable with the sale at any point - please speak up.

^^^ Net to me doesn't make sense.

(Yes we've had this conversation before)

Just build in those costs and give ONE cost to buyers that is TYD.
If you want to give leverage for negations put an OBRO after the price, if not, put FIRM after the price.

Nice and simple.

Very interested to see what you get back from Smedley.

I have a feeling he did, or wanted to put a clone in there, just because if you say something is a clone as loudly and a baselessly as he has, what other conclusion can you come to?
The fact that he had no interest in letting you even varify that it was real adds to my suspicions...

Maybe it was buyers remorse, but he didn't actually buy anything, so why all the clone drama, unless you want it to be one on the return trip....

Maybe this thread changed his mind, and I hope that is the case...

Really sorry this happened to you, Rounic. I was so close to pulling the trigger on that knife, and now wish I had. He was on at 10:51AM today but does not respond to this thread at all, that is not a good sign.

Has the tracking shown up yet? I have NEVER had a tracking number now show up in this amount of time, NEVER. It would at the very least show an acceptance scan at the original location. I wish you nothing other than a good outcome, and the safe return of the ACTUAL knife you sent.

 I don't take offense to anyone asking whatever they want for a certain piece. If it's an unreasonable offer and they'll take a counter fine, if not thank you, have a nice day and move on. The market will correct itself, I've seen plenty of folks reduce and reduce price until it's reasonable. I also need to learn to proof read jeeesh I'm a bad speller.

Great point JR, don't be wishy washy about it firm price with the fees or best offer. I wish everyone would take that approach I believe it solve most of these problem.

Op, no need to apologize for bringing others into this thread. Hopefully your lesson learned will also be that for many others down the road.

This one is a real head scratcher though. Have to admit, if I received something that I truly thought was a fake, I'd be documenting the heck out of it with pictures. And be notating specifics in my response to a thread like this. Only someone that had every intention to deceive from the start, would respond like Smedley did.

I wish the OP luck in the final resolution. And I must say, that is one darn beautiful "clone". [emoji12]. Wish I had the money for it.

This is a key point. If the buyer actually thought it was a fake, HE would be the one starting this thread, denouncing the seller and posting specifics. In fact we would expect him to, and we would be grateful.
Now it just looks like a sh1t move.

I think smelly intended to put a clone in there on rounic the whole time. Hopefully opening this thread changed his mind I certainly hope rounic gets it back like he sent it.

I think the fact that Smedlybutthead has suddenly gone dark says a lot. Dude is seriously whacked in the head.

But his scam chat to the op is what a good upstanding and positive feedback guy he was lmao what a shammer

As long as he's not on plane on his way to me as he threatened (for his sake, it's ok guys, I bet he was just raging) I'm good. Considering all of your feedback unboxing will take place in an open field with just me and a 4K cam. What a nightmare this is. Thank you again all. You guys rock, faith in humanity restored.

Thinking about this whole thing... I can't really involve anyone beyond this point. It's my mess. Everyone I reached out to and everyone here showed support and bs-free logical thinking. I will have to unbox the return and live with whatever I get. I will post an update when it happens and I will do a continuous recording of the process just in case.

What goes around... As someone here said - do unto others

Couldn't he have made a new account and watching this thread through that?

A man truly owns just two things in this life: his name and his word. Unfortunately it's too easy to change both online these days.

There is one definite in this mess; smedley is on the plank and taking steps forward as we speak. As soon as the Mods come to their conclusion (a conclusion 99.99% are just as close in making) that smedley lacks the necessary character to be a member here, a swift kick or push and the splash sound will be deafening!!!

Once again for the record though; would you kindly post the description of the Strider you shipped back?

If there was threats to your person I'd add them to the mail fraud charges, if that turns out to be the case. I won't be dealing with this person at all.

I bought a ZT0454 from Rounic a couple days ago. Should be here Monday. The deal was smooth and he gave me a couple days to pay because I was in the middle of having cash transferred to paypal. I had the sense in our PM conversation he was a good guy, thanks again!:)

The deal he made with SmedleyButler turned into crap obviously. Mistakes were made (from my point of view) by both guys. Rounic is on here trying to resolve the problem and seems to be taking the suggestions given by everyone well.

SmedleyButler is not coming across so well. That's his choice and he'll deal with the consequences.

What I don't get (and this happens a lot here in GBU) is why people create more drama than is already taking place. For example is it really necessary to call SmedleyButler names? What is the purpose and what good does it do except piss off SmedleyButler and make him not want to respond. As another example, claiming he was going to switch the knife for a clone. It's a long way from buyers remorse or believing the knife he received is a clone to now actively deceiving and lying to get a free knife. How would any of us know that?

I followed this thread because I had a deal going with Rounic. I also try and follow threads like this to make sure I know who to trust and who to be cautious with in the future. To me personally I get frustrated having to wade through nonsense to find the real and valuable information.

Anyway I don't want to criticize as we are all free to post what we want within the rules. Maybe just spend a few more minutes thinking your thoughts out and if it's not really adding anything of relevance or value then let it go and post somewhere else.
