Testing Banner Ads - it's not a bug, it's me screwing things up

Well, I had my say and then re-upped early for two more years.

I gotta say that some paying members that are complaining about the advertising ads have more advertising in their signature lines than the test advertising Spark is conducting.

Actually, this thread has been a hoot what with all the comments.
 
I have a poor internet connection at the moment and am finding the 'shockwave' ads are really interfering with the page-loading.
 
It is very slow right now. Threads are taking over a minute to load and I am working off of a 10 meg connection.

Ads in sig line? What my sale link? The graphic square large ads are not personal member ads.. just to be clear on that, even though they appear within ones post.

And over a min to load? You must be on a shared network or in a place where there is heavy traffic/bottle necking...

My connect is much faster than that, but.. then again, it took almost 2secs to load this page...


EDIT: also depends on where the server nodes are and how far you are from them..

Just ping the wed site and see where you are getting stuck...

So, do we generate more $$ when we click on these things? Maybe this little boost will be helpful. Either way, I've clicked a few, just because they seem to know what I like. ;)

Don't click the links unless it's something you are wanting to see. Click fraud is not a good thing.
 
Since the banner add testing has started my phone will not resize the page with a double tap. It will on any other website I try it on.
 
I'm on satellite internet, and the ads are slowing page loading so much for me that I have trouble posting and it takes a long time just to open a thread.
 
HTTP Error 408: The server timed out while waiting for your request

The server did not receive a complete request within a certain amount of time
If you are on a very slow network connection you might try the request again. If the problem keeps occurring the problem may be due to some incompatible browser you are using.


This is the error message I get when trying to post in the general discussion forum.
 
Kevin thanks for doing what you do to help keep the forum going and for working hard to make it affordable. I paid for my membership because the info here is totally worth it to me. Not having ads is a bonus. I'm guessing I will be comfortable with where you end up when all the ad testing is done.

Still working on stuff guys. I'm getting blazing fast page loading, or it's crawling. One extreme or the other. I don't know if it's ad related or not.

Not if I can help it. I'm still working behind the scenes examining server loads and what's going on with ads displaying in various areas. The ONLY way that paying members will have to see ads is if the server loads go too high filtering them out that it disables the entire site. And if that happens, I'm going to have to install more hardware.
