The 2016 knives have landed!

Those are great looking knives! I've really been on the fence about ordering one of these but seeing all of the great pictures is pushing me over.

JITDC, your signature line prompts me to mention, the 35 Drover is very similar (in size/shape) to the IRJ.

Is 500 really the minimum number of knives for a GEC Special Factory Order?

Jack, they WILL make smaller runs, (200 or so) but the order would lose a degree of price break. Also, it would have to be a variation on a knife already in production.
500 knives gets the best break in cost for us in the Forum knife for instance.
AND, we get a new, never-before-used pattern!
350 knives seems to be the upper limit for a Forum knife run, so I tacked on my 150 HJs to get us both (the Forum, and me) a break.*

Just so everyone knows, I am the guarantor on the BF knife order, so get your orders in please!!

Thanks for mentioning that Redsparrow! I'm looking for something in this size and configuration and really like the single blade the IRJ offers... but the 2016 GEC 35 Drover is a fantastic looking knife as well.

Nice #35s, Philllll!!!!!

Gunstock, I've the impression that you hadn't approached Case, so if I'm wrong just blow this off. I know that Case does limited editions of only 200, of course I doubt we'd have the free reign in the design. Just thought I'd pass that on.

Thanks for the clarification Charlie

Put my under the "Happy, Happy, Happy" column.

We are extremely fortunate to even have the opportunity to get such a club knife.

We are even more fortunate to have gentlemen willing to put in what has to be an incredible amount of time and some huge hassles (not the least of which is probably us, the knife enthusiasts) pulling these off.

Thank you to all who endured the hassles to bring this knife to fruition and who gave us this opportunity to own one. Thank you!

HAPPY-HAPPY-HAPPY.

AND, bankroll the whole thing! Amazing really!
Thanks so much!

That's the first time I heard of the 200 number and it isn't consistent with the info Chris sent on SFO's, so I'm confused.

Again, Charlies department. Personally, I don't care for newer Case knives.

Don't wait on me! I've been ready to ship for a month or more. I can't ship knives I don't have.

Thanks, Charlie.

I already bought one of each, so I did my part. :)

I am thinking that there may be a lot of folks who are waiting until the knives are being shipped again before they place their orders.

It is a real sweet knife (at least the one I received so far - still waiting on the BF version). Thin and light, but with generous-sized blades, and the pulls are almost perfect (at least on mine). So if anyone is still on the fence, go ahead and take the plunge. I am sure they will be shipping again someday soon, and I do not believe that you will be disappointed with the product.

I carried my HJ yesterday and my Forum knife is in my pocket today. In fact I just dug a splinter out of my finger with the punch. I LOVE these knives!

I got my Harness Jack SFO the other day courtesy of the late Bob Andrews RIP.

Impressions:

It looks nice- neat but unspectacular. The ebony is a little dull. The bolsters may have been better pinched to make it a bit more interesting and aid comfort when the blade is open.

The knife feels great in hand. The handle length is just about perfect and the cigar pattern is surprisingly comfortable given its simplicity and lack of ergonomic curves. The weight is nice, its nice and light but still feels strong. The blade length is good.

The main spear blade is a great design. GEC is knocking it out of the park with some of their recent blade shapes- do they have a new designer? The spear has a nice belly and a well placed swedge. The punch is sharp and small. Could it have been larger?

Snap. The main is a little limp and the punch snaps well but it tight to open. The knife has no blade rubbing issues, its just the punch nail nick is buried deep in the frame and it has about a 7 pull. The main doesn't have great walk and talk - this is due to the catch piece. You can hear and feel it sliding as the main opens and shuts. It detracts from the crispness you get with a more simple design.

Overall, the feel in hand and the beautiful main blade win me over on this knife. I like it a lot. I think the full scout knife will be a winner, provided it has a decent tool selection.

Thanks Barry and Charlie and Bob

Camillus, try flushing the joint for the lazy snap. I gave mine a flush and oiling and it's perfect. I cannot find a thing wrong with the ones I received.

As Bob said, a good cleaning goes a long way(especially with these 35s). Also, I have found that the more you work the blades the smoother everything gets. When mine is not all filled with pocket/ work debris the snap is great, but it definitely started out a little on the lazy side.

I've definately noticed the light pull on the main blade of the hj10, maybe a 4 or 5. Just indicative of the pattern perhaps?
Still a tremendous effort from gec and Charlie. This pattern is an instant favorite and in my top 3 or 4 of gec offerings.

Thanks but I put the walk and talk issues down to the catch piece. It moves about a bit and makes a 'sliding' sound when opening and closing the main, but not the punch. You can detect it in the Apostle P youtube video of the knife at 5:06. I have a forum knife on order and I will see if its any different.

The ebony is a little disappointing - but only because everyone talked about how good it was. I am experimenting with shoe polish to try to give it some more lustre.

Otherwise, I am very happy with the knife.
