The 2024 F**** K****?

I’m on the fence as I’m not a big stockman fan. For $250, I have to love it. If I jumped in and ever decided to move it along, I’d be worried about recouping my money.

Mine arrived this afternoon.....

Before GEC I’d never seen someone buy something and have any reasonable expectation of recouping their expense if they decide to unload it. If you can make a statement like this ^^^ you’ve been spoiled by the popularity of GEC.

When I buy something I buy it assuming that money is gone, because that’s the only guaranteed outcome. I wonder how many people would be frantically buying them up if they realized they were stuck with the sunk cost?

I try to do that with modern ones nowadays: buy on sale when price is anyhow below usual retail and then, if I happen do dislike it, I sell at the same price as I bought or a little bit less (which I then consider a cost as if I rented it to check out), because price would still be below retail (usually). It doesn't always work though.

Perhaps, but the only way you lose money selling a GEC is if you paid too much, or the pattern is unpopular. I keep 90% of the GECs I buy anyway. I’m just not keen on losing money on a knife sale ($50 or more on a new knife.) I don’t think anyone is.

Or GEC becomes unpopular. Or people become hard up for cash. Or whatever.
Buy what you think you can afford and then the resale value isn't as big of a deal.
I personally think it's about time we get some accountability back into the works.
People have been able to gobble up product without penalty for far too long - in fact, some people turn a profit off that behavior.

So yeah, is the Forum Knife pricy? you bet.
I guess you'll have to decide if you really want a knife before you buy it for a change.

Anyway, sorry for getting off topic, and I'm not here to pick on you, specifically.

You make valid points and no offense taken. Anyway, I think I’m going to take the plunge and keep it. 👍🏻

I looked back at the last five pages to see details about the number of springs and the cover material but it seems like those items are still TBD?

thats what causes some of the issues i guess, if the people who actually like the knife bought it instead of the speculators, then the rest of us wouldn't have to pay inflated costs (extra shipping, pp fees etc) the problem is, some people have fomo bad. For example, i got caught up on the 39s and then watched when folks dropped prices to get out. Some dealers released at a higher price then others. Now I over paid, but thats on me. So for the newest bladeforum knife, Im sure at that price, people who really want it, will willingly pay it. It will likely remove a lot of the speculation and flippers that plagued the previous knives. Youll notice the 34s dont command a tremendous premium, but boy did the spring street barlow go nuts. (again, just observations, hope no one feels they got their toes stepped on)

You're welcome.

I actually like how the final choice for covers and shield are undecided. I am in, and very excited to see what happens here!
