The Bears' Den--Shirogorov Showcase

That model is the NeOn Lite and is discontinued with the new NeOn Zero (the non-limited version of the Retro without the milling on the handles)

They are still available on the secondary market for good prices but yes, no more new ones will be made.

Thanks. On the hunt for secondary market one then. If any readers have a lead I'd appreciate it.

What he said. The NeOn Lite and UltraLite is lightly smaller and I prefer its blade's shape as well.

There were two Neon lites for sale in the classifieds. One I missed by a couple hours and the other one is getting delivered tomorrow.. just keep looking, sometimes you need to go 8 to 10 pages deep.

Of note, the next logical question is Lite vs Ultra Lite.

Lite:
Backspacer w/ centered lanyard hole, more premium blade steels (M390 and more rarely S90V) and some decorative milling on the inside that is not deep enough for any appreciable weight savings unlike the Zero which has full, deep internal milling.

Ultra Lite:
Lanyard hole on show side scale like the F95, titanium standoff, steels such as Elmax or S30V and scales completely unmilled internally.

Otherwise both the Lite and Ultra Lite are the same dimensions externally, have the same blade shape and grind and run on the same 2 row MRBS bearing system.

I just got one of the retro kit a is sweet and for the difference of only 185 dollars you get the limited edition and limited edition tool and leather sleeve and the tool have 3 bits for used will all the shiros sweet sweet

Yes, I got the email too. The only reason I didn't pull the trigger is I learned I prefer the shorter blade shape of the discontinued original model. It's a small scale version of my esteemed F3.

For me the new blade is more useful and have the gimping and for the price and the exclusivity of only 100 is unbeatable the pen cost 300 and only have two bits and the tool is limited edition to Is sweet deal

I just pulled the trigger on a HatiOn Lite and a Pivot Tool Pen at Recon 1 now. It comes in only a few dollars more than the show set and I won't have to settle for a different blade shape.

2-day FedEx. Now the wait begins.

:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Yes but you are missing on bit and is not limited edition but is sweet congrats

The bit driver that comes with the NeOn Retro tool.

Don't worry it will be available separately very soon for around 150-200. Or you can buy the pen tool for around 300.

I have heard through the grapevine the production version of the bit driver will have some cool changes to the design that may be worth waiting for too so we'll see....

The driver and three bits that comes with the NeOn Retro works with the serial versions of the NeOn Zero and F95 and F3 knives. The pivot bit works on all those models and one bit for each's body screws. The bit for the NeOn Zero fits the NeOn Lite and UL although it is shorter than the slot so i'd proceed with caution and not over-torque it. The same bit also fit the screw on the Dr. Death's lockbar holding the insert in. It doesn't seem to be a limited edition item as it's for sale at an authorized dealer in Russia without the Retro.

Yeah i see that but they are out stock and the seller don’t now eta on the tool and if will be available in the future the thing is for 900 for the set you get the tool for for 150-185 because you get the leather sleeve to and the retro is limited of only 100 for me is a sweet deal and you get on the retro the best of both worlds

hm do you mean the tools or bits that go into the tools? For tools there's 3 of them: pen which doubles as a driver, the sinkevich bolt action pen w/ bits for sinkevich knives, and now the new driver only tool.

for bits however, there are 5 I know that have been made commercially available that fit the footprint of the pen tool:
- large bit for all Shirogorov design pivot screws (Part of all pen tool sets)
- small bit for F95/111 rear screws (Part of F95 pen tool set and new driver tool)
- small bit for NeOn Lite/Ultra Lite rear screw (Part of Neon pen tool set only)
- small bit for NeOn Zero rear screw (different than above, available with new driver tool only)
- Sinkevich large bit for Shiro/Sinkevich collaboration knives (available separately for normal pen tool or available as double sided large/small bit with Shiro/Sinkevich bolt action pen)

Bits not available:
- Custom Division Inverted small screw as seen on the Hokkaido, Custom Division HatiOn, NeOn Mk2
- Custom Division lockbar insert screw, also seen on the RFT clip screw

and of course Sergey's duckfoot screws, as only he has the drivers for those :)
