Meanwhile still honeymooning with the cf Dr Death Collab but putting it with a couple of my older odd balls for an all CF Shiro Saturday

So, we got up to our little corner of Vermont to get away from it all and chill out on our woodlot in a remote corner of our small town. There's 3 feet of snow and we've finished shovelling paths to the shed, woodshed, and outhouse. The snow's finally come off the roof and I've got the dooryard cleaned up, so today is play with knives day.

I had the F3 Python apart two and a half times and the lock stick is much better. I slightly eased the the edge of the lock bar insert, lightly sanded it, and gave it a polish. Did the same to the lock ramp on the blade tang.

On the second go-round, I took a little of the ti itself on the lock bar as the insert is indeed wrapped and the ti was just kissing the tang. Did a little more polishing again.

Along the way, I cleaned out the bearing chases and gave them a bit of a polish along with the tang. I cleaned up the ring retainers on a green-loaded strop and changed the lube to W85 NanoOil.

The last half-disassembly was to get to the interior liner screw to tweak the blade back to dead center.

So now I've got the tiniest audible click when disengaging the lock, slightly later lock up, and way freer and smoother action. I'm hoping the little click goes away after a bit more break in.

I gotta sayi have two 95 variants but u carry, flip and play with my F3 more. Not sure if its because of the thicker blade or handle but l like the F3 a bit more. Now if only it was a CD with LIghtCF and S90V my wish would have been completed.

Is it weird if i have a F95 CF S90V with weird lock. Meaning sometimes it has a very small amount of lockstick and sometimes none. Keep in mind the flipping is the same.

Any comments?


Just cant wait for my ceramic bearings to arrive.

Wheres the best place to purchase these knives? Seems theres not much stock at bladehq and knifecenter

The is only ONE US dealer... Recon 1, important if you want a warranty... if warranty does not matter there are Russian re-sellers who frequent the for sale section here at BF
 
Chazzy- -glad that issue was found. I would trade places for a quiet cabin even with the cold. Hot humid clustered up metropolitan living really isn't my cuppa but it's what I'm stuck with.

Thin-slice... flip open the knife.. disengage lock with one hand and hold the handle tight.. Try and see if the blade will have any slight movement by pushing/ pulling it forward and back.. ie check if the tolerance of pivot shaft and the holes match up nicely or loose.. I had knives where the on/ off lockstick happens in such cases..

I bought my Shiros here on the Exchange--two "used" and two new. The new ones--111CF M390 and F95T M390--came from Russia. I got good prices on both. One of the two sellers--Vladimir_K--is a registered dealer here and has supplied many of the knives you see on these pages. If you have something particular in mind you can get in touch with Vlad and he'll try to find you what you're looking for. He also often has knives listed on the Exchange. While several of the other Russian sellers here have good feedback, they're not registered as dealers with BF even though their intent is clearly to re-sell for profit. That said, I have done business with one such gentleman with excellent results.

Number 6 looks like my F3 in black G10 with wave grooves however the shiro bear supposed to be present in blade but its not. No shiro logo on blade or handle on showside that i c. Weird


Edit: the light might have covered the bear. Also 5 n 6 look like F3's except 5 is CF (obvious groove as well as wave pattern hasnt been used on a hati as far as i know, usually seashell type) and 6 is G10
