Shiro Sunday yesterday with the F95R. This one's got the 3.5 mm Vanax 37 blade stock, but it pre-dates the Slim series as its handle thickness is F95 conventional. I've sometimes seen this particular configuration called out as Nudist, though I've also seen those so-named without any exterior handle milling.

That first ding gives you that "Oh sh*t" moment, but it's also very freeing, making it so much easier to carry and use a new beauty.
Actually I was referring to just finally getting the Gen 5, but there is in fact a small scuff on the clip:eek:. I agree with you completely ChazzyP ChazzyP and have echoed that sentiment many times to others. If I can't carry it for fear of damaging it, it has no place in my collection.

For me the difference is how scuffed, scratched or otherwise marred a knife. If I mark it up doing maintenance for example, no matter how minor the mark I’m not happy. But if I damage a knife using it that mark is a badge of honor. Years ago, I had a CKF Peaceduke and sharped it in my Wicked Edge sharpener. This was the first knife I sharpened after sharpening a few old beaters and I had yet to learn to put masking tape along the spine and flats. It had minor scratches but they bothered me to the point that I tried to refinish the knife myself. On the other hand, I used my Rockstead SHU to score some wood I was drilling and broke 1mm off the tip. It didn’t bother me nearly as much as the Peaceduke and I sharpened it out and moved on. As this is the Shiro forum i should mention I’ve never damaged one even after hard use.

I still don't mask my blades when sharpening, only around the ricasso and scales if the angle on the stones may scuff up the frame or to rimind me not to creep up the ricasso.

You're spot on with that, CPP CPP . Before I got my EdgePro I used my SharpMaker exclusively. It's real easy to slip when beginning another stroke and drag the blade over the corner of the triangular rod. I've got a faint stratch on one blade side each of both my 111CF and F3 Python. Every time I handle one of those otherwise clean knives I wrinkle my nose up at the scratch. I bumped into the rip fence extension on my shop UniSaw and scratched the clip on my F95R. 😬 Don't much like that one either ant ended up putting a wood guard on the saw extension as I brush by it often.

My Turtle is a work user with scratches and scuffs on both handle slabs and clip, with a few light marks on the blade. I kinda enjoy it being a bit beat up looking, though I certainly still treat such a good tool with respect while not babying it.
