The Bears' Den--Shirogorov Showcase

Hey Andre21. Yes, it is a mini. I bought all three last week and posted the pic on the iron table in the latest acquisitions thread. I thought the faded iron table brought out the blue in the 111 better than the deck, so I put it here too.

ETA: If having a pic that contains a non-Shiro knife is against the rules I can remove it.
You are good my friend. No worries on having other knives in the same pic as a Shiro.
Nice shopping spree you went on. I’m jealous. 😊

2nd batch alert! 🙃 I was lucky enough to snatch a Blue TechnoCarbo Hati today from the maker’s site, hence we may expect R1 to replenish their stock very soon.

Hopefully mine will be as colorful as DocJekl DocJekl 's Hati is.

P.S. Well, there might be some kind of logistics hiccup, the 3rd batch appeared 21.08 on the maker's website. I guess it was rather small one, sold out within an hour.

My Blue TechnoCarbo Hati arrived today -- this variation looks more colorful and complex, than the Red one, I would call it a 'Metallic Blue' or 'Blue Tinfoil'.

I just ordered a new Hati Gen 3 Blue Technocarbo on layaway. What does the scale feel like? Is it smooth, or is it rough to the touch? It almost appears to be rough and I hate that feeling. Almost like a chalkboard? So now I'm having second thoughts. I'm curious to get your feedback. Thanks!

The video is the best representation of the color, or the second or third picture.

The blue got darker in the shadowy part of the first pic, where I was trying to hide the sparkly reflections of the light by keeping direct light off. I then had to brighten the picture post processing because it was too dark.

It’s definitely smooth. You’ll have no regrets, it’s my favorite Shiro and I use the piss out of it. Carries like a Bugout but gives legit 4” cutting edge. Crazy great action even after months of hard use. Been in dirt and sand and animal blood and never gummed up the action. Their m390 is the best I’ve had, holds a “sticky” sharp edge for 3 times longer than any s30/35/45 I’ve used and strops and sharpens easy.

Fantastic knife and easily an all time favorite of mine

Don't worry, the surface of the CF scale is smooth. One may consider it a CF version of F95 Zero presentation scale. Here's the stock picture:

I do feel the red pigment on the surface of the RedTechnoCarbo, but they might have fixed it in the newer BlueTechnoCarbo, improving it both visually and tactilely; can't say for sure -- hopefully DocJekl DocJekl will be kind enough to comment, if he feels any difference between RTC and BTC.

I've sold my BTC pretty fast, since (1) the red one has been already customized and used and even dropped once on the ladder (surprisingly, no major damage, just a few ugly scuffs on the titanium edges), and (2) I hope to snatch a bronze/copper one (or whatever yellowish/brownish version they are going to make), or an updated Hati with newer blade design similar to F95 Gen 4.

What are you saying about the red pigment? I didn’t understand your comment

If you put a thumb on the RedTechnoCarbo scale and move it back and forth, you can feel some kind of inclusions in the flat surface — can’t you? I surely can.

It is not the case with black CF scales, so I guess the inclusions consist of the red paint added into the layers.

I don’t know how to explain it in a better way 🤔

Are your RTC scales silk smooth as black CF used to be?

I will have to check. My RTC is a backup safe queen, the black marble is my heavy user.

I’m out of town for work and only have the black one so I’ll check next week

Thanks to a fellow denizen, I was able to acquire this at a very fair price.
‘Thank you Sir.
A little bit of lock stick, but not even remotely broken in yet.
Very pleased…

The 4th elemental F3 is coming this Saturday!

ventus.jpg

What do you think about the possible steel options?

I bet it might be something more or less common, like Cromax PM or Elmax. The later seems more likely since the older version of F95NL Micarta + Elmax + MRBS suddenly re-appeared in stock this week:

UPDATED on 2023-09-13 : the product pictures on the maker's website have been just replaced -- it seems the blade shape is very recent after all.

I wonder, how many Elmax blades were made... it could become pretty rare F95NL version:

The full pictures will be interesting, I have a feeling these scales will be quite metallic and sparkly!

Looks like the hardware has a nice dark finish to it. These will most likely drop tomorrow morning at R1.

I agree.

Well, as expected: Vanax > S90V > M390 > Elmax

At least they didn't choose Cronidur or CTS40-CP for the last one.

Voilà -- F3 Aerum 🙃

I’ve tried 4 times but sold them all. Just can’t get into the f3. Ergos are nice I just don’t like the action (compared to Hati of f3) and don’t love how it rides in pocket.

Beautiful tho! The Earth Wind and Fire series look super cool
