Ok so i seem to have noticed a trend which im loving to death. I only have 2 of those but i think its probably universal.

EDIT: to clarify i have the CF Hati and the CRK Large 21 insingo from KnifeArt

Ok--- any knife with a carbon fiber showside scale has a much better sound when blade locks in place when u open it, comparing to titanium instead of CF. Basically sorta off like an echo in a well or so. The sound that resonates from CF vs Titanium is different obviously. Well just saying that im loving it the CF twack.

and even better when double sided but also depends on what kind of cf.. I reckon it boils down to the manner of how the CF is laid up and the density as well. Its kinda a plasticky "clak" vs a more wooden "clok" sound... I like the latter

I'm not fond of the sound my 111 makes when opening. It makes sort of a dry, whooshing noise as the blade moves and more of a clack than a clock when it locks. The whoosh has lessened somewhat over time and I'm unsure if it's created by the lock-bar/detent-ball drag or the roller bearings. Maybe a bit of each. It seems the cf scales create a sort of sounding board effect and amplify the noise, whatever its source.

I haven't had the knife open yet, but do intend to work on it when I get some time to polish the bearing chases, de-burr the rings, and put a tiny bit of grease on the detent-ball track. Maybe the sound will change a bit after a tuneup.

Edit: I'm with T-S on the Hati & KA Seb 21 for sure. The Seb is close to my favorite knife and the Hati is climbing the charts rapidly.  Both sound great too!!

I missed the micarta F3 that I sold to ChazzyP so much that I had to pick up a new one. The black wash and polished edge were done by Spade Knife Works and the scales are by dept_13

That's just a stunningly handsome knife, Mtneer! Did you have that work done or buy it that way? Just excellent balance and contrast between the scales and blade coating.

Indeed, Mtneer sold me my first Shiro and started me down the road that's added four more Bears to date. Without his sale of the Python we might not have the Den to hang out in.

I picked it up,from someone on Intragram who just had the work done. He actually had Spade Knife Works send to straight to me. I'm not sure why he never to possession of it but I'm glad to have the chance to own it.

Funny how stuff turns over sometimes and often hard to figure if there's any logic behind it. Nice grab for you for sure, though, and just a stunning, one-of-a-kind piece.

What happens when u let a Shiro freedropper hit ur nail repeatedly. Didnt notice it but a few says later started to hurt and looked at it. You know the saying "death by a thousand cuts". Well not a thousand on my finger but def like a 100 or so low impact hits do stack up. All those tiny incisions are by my new Hati, its not a complete full free dropper but it dropped freely enough to slice me.

I did it knowingly btw used my fingernail to stop blade from hitting my fingers when closing but it does stack up.

Hello guys, I'm a new user on this forum .. but actually I registered this account long time ago and prefer to read topics only. I'm going to visit the USA on business soon and wanna ask you just one question: how do you carry these Shiro knives? I have F95T (and Hati) but have some doubts, is it legal to carry this knife or not? I've researched a few topics/documents and figured out that almost everywhere it's forbidden to carry knives with blade length >3-3.5in depending on certain state. Sorry for inconvenience if my question looks not correct in this thread :)

It all depends on where you are not just state but city as well as the local laws can bary.

Then again there are some that just dont care about local laws. They figure if it is legal to carry a firearm then what is the issue with a small folder.

Just google the local law where u r gonna be.

Thin-Slice, thanks for the response! I'm going to visit Seattle and google tells me that there's a limitation with 3.5in in that city. So .. by the fact I can take Shiro and don't show it in public places. Otherwise I need to take something smaller (i.e. BM 556) to follow the local laws ))

Chazzy- -on the CF mrbs 111-- the clack boils down to the type of cf being used.. Yup I don't like it either but there really isn't much to do about that sound.. My other 111 also on CF but a diff kind has one of the best "clokking sound.. the kind you would usually associate with a marbled cf knife... I think its a broken twill cf but I am really not sure...

I did manage to sweeten up the action of my 111 mrbs after the last round of tuning though... polishing race and detent tracks etc

Nice to see you back here, a_d. I remember your vid from early this year and your 111 sure is smooth and free after your tune-up. I haven't had a chance to work on mine yet, and honestly, aside from the sound, it's gotten a lot looser just breaking in since I picked it up late last summer. I'll be really pleased if it comes out as well as yours when I do get to it. That's the way my Turtle opens and closes and it makes it awful sweet to use.

Yes I'm still around Chazzy... just the madness at work keeping me away except for every now and then ;)

I'm not a "small knife" type-- but this Neon 3D has really been one that is much appreciated.. "cloks" with the sweetest sound and sensation on lockup-- the kind of sound usually associated with a nice CF handle rather than ti... and a bit more on the Shiros in the collection on my blog.

I finally received and installed my Ceramic bearings in my Neon. No polishing of the track or any other work and it made a huge difference in the action of the knife. Blade just rockets out now action was always good but it is superb now!!

And I'll raise you a deadly hedgehog! 😂

I've got a hedgehog on the way from Vlad as it's about time for me to retire the penny, nickel, and quarter I use for my PacMan screws.

I'll have to content myself with that for now as the next Shiros I'd want are a big step up from my current lot. Not that there's anything wrong with my family of Bears....

There ya go buddy. My F3 with ceramic bearings is a dream. Don't even use any lubricants anymore. Just rinse it under the sink for a bit and it just flies out. Actually when the knife is wet (meaning water in the bearings) it flies as though I have put oil lubricant in it.

Wait the hedgehog tool---- what is it. I see it and it looks like it has edge angle guides but Chazzy said retire penny/nickel. Is it a tool for the pivot as well?

The nose and front leg are drivers for the two screw-slot sizes, T-S.
