The Bears' Den--Shirogorov Showcase

I that pic you can see the difference in the stonewash with the Stellar. They definitely used a finer media with this run of the F95 Zero because it has a real smooth finish, like the glass blast that CRK offers.

An official article with hires pictures has been just published by the maker:

Bless you Bacchus!

Those loose bearings are nightmare fuel! But dang if it ain't neat to see under the hood!
Are the MRBS bearings loose or caged on Shiro's?
I enjoy taking my knives apart but I usually hesitate when the bearings are loose.
I have still never disassembled my AB's.

Yes they are loose but I’ve watched quite a few vids now on them now, and it really doesn’t look too imposing if you’re careful about it. Just make sure you have a good workspace where if one does get away it’s not going to roll off into limbo.

BP is right, they're really not bad as long as you take some care. A low-nap dishtowel makes a good work surface. I have nylon-tipped tweezers that require little pressure that work very nicely. I've also used the handle end of a wooden swab dipped in medium weight oil to pick them up and maneuver into position. Avoid using anything magnetic as the bb's pick up a charge very easily and become more difficult to nudge into position.

It's really kind of a Zen thing working with them--take a deep breath, relax, and go slowly. I actually enjoy it and have success despite my essential tremor.

I actually like that my tweezers have a slight magnetism to them, the ball hangs at the end and I use a toothpick to pop it into place. No matter the method, a towel is a great thing to have there to keep things from rolling away!

All good that that works for you. What I've found is that if the balls have picked up a charge they get attracted to the pivot when let go and they're harder to drop into place. The point, though, is that that there's more than one way to re-skin a pivot and that the loose bearings are not much of an issue once you settle on a method you're comfortable with.

The point, that I agreed with? You said you don’t like the magnetization and I said it actually helps me, so yes that’s in fact pointing out there’s more than one wag to do it, the towel to stop the balls from rolling away helps no matter the process so we agree there too!

Hey J, I wasn't disagreeing at all, just mentioning a bit more about how I struggled with magnetization while trying to reinforce to those hesitant about the loose bb's that there was more than one way to successfully deal with them. I probably didn't express that well.

All good! One thing you did point out that I NEED is some tweezers with the rubber end caps or something other than just thin metal tips because when you pinch one of those little balls wrong they definitely shoot off at the speed of light lol

That's exactly what I found out with my all-metal tweezers and why I picked up a couple different types with the nylon tips. After having some pop out with an all-steel tweezer, but fall on the towel, I had one shoot clear of the table and onto the floor near the wall. 😧 Fortunately, it also cleared the rug and I was actually able to find it while crawling around on my hands and knees. 😌 That's when I ordered the new tools.

Anyone else love their braces?
I'm loving mine. First release version. Literally looking at my phone when the R1 email arrived announcing the 2nd edition. Opened R1 immediately and 2nd edition was already sold out. Pretty sure 2nd is just 150 world wide, like the first. Congratulations TeggedOutt.🤩
