The Best Offensive Weapon

James Mattis

I have a BM mini spike, and love it.
I am a Benchmade fan because they DO make slim tapered blades that cut, peal, and slice. Not every knife needs to be built like a tank.

(I am not such a fan on liner locks on the more heavy duty knives, but for small knives with cutting profiles they are great.)

But here we were talking offensive knives.

The PC comment was to my feeling that in a blade forum discusion group it is important that there should be room for the less pleasant uses of blades, swords and pointy things. We should be mature enough to discuss it, even when we are disgusted by it. In the long term trying to ignore or stop such obvious areas of discussion, does nobody any good. My example was just to show that there are more important things to get "bloody angry about". The PC liberal attitudes that are so fashoinable and high and mighty would stop the sale of many types of knives, but not stop Africa killing itself.

Thats me being heavy enough for one day.

We should be mature enough to refrain from seriously discussing "how to kill" information with teenage wannabes who represent themselves as government agents.

At the same range, bare hands are just as effective and just as difficult to put on lethal target as a small knife - plus they can go through any metal detector. They teach you that in any secret agent school. Even in Singapore!

I agree. Talk about knives in the broadest terms. There is no need to be specific. What little I know, I wouldn't pass on to anyone I didn't know personally.

However, all the information is out there, somewhere, for those who want to know. Luckily there is so much dross and misinformation that it is of little help. Though any of it is potentially dangerous in the head of a plonker.

Time this subject was put to bed. Catch me somewhere more interesting on the forum.

In my opinion, choosing a fighting knife is dependent on several things. Firstly is the fighting style tou will be primarily using. Secondly is how you will wear it--concealed or not concealed. This will dictate it size and weight. Longer blades are better; they reach out farther. Heavier blades can add more force to blow. Knives designed PRIMARILY for thrusting are called dirks, daggers, and stilletos. The Fairburn-Sykes British Commando dagger and tanto blades are good examples. Knives designed PRIMARILY for slashing are broader and have curved bellies that put more edge length into a slash. A light Bowie Knife like the USMC Kabar is a good example. Additionally many Bowies have the forward part of the upper blades sharpened for a reverse cut. Large heavy knives like the Kukri and heavy Bowies are great choppers as well as slashers and thrusters. Personally I am partial to the USMC Kabar as a great general purpose fighting knife that can still be easily concealed and carried for long periods of to me.

"reply to the above:I am a 16 year old student and i must say that my personal favourites are the cold steel mini culloden and the la griffe..
the cold steel culloden is a more lethal stabber/penetrator, but the la griffe from emerson is the ultimate in concealability.
even when i am wearing my singlet for physical exercises, the knife is not noticed at all by any of my classmates or my teacher...you could try the la griffe...its one hell of a knife.the culloden is a cool knife but its small handle makes it hard to unsheath when you are panicking or in a hurry
i would still prefer the la griffe...its the best option for neck carry i feel"

Thanks for the great detective work Judge. I knew there was something rotten in the state of Singapore.

Nicky, it's time to turn off daddy's computer, it's getting way past your bedtime.

Before anyone else thinks that they should support Nick's concealed carry fantasies, read the above and consider that he wants an offensive weapon that he can carry concealed in his school.

Not a utility knife, not a paring or butter knife, not even a defensive knife. He wants an offensive weapon that he can carry in class.

Isn't it established that Klebold and Harris sought out similar information on the net? Wouldn't you feel like crap if you had furnished it?

Don't know if I would feel like crap or not about that. I do know that every time that particular subject comes up, I feel like crap that, to the best of my knowledge, the only injuries those two suffered were at their own hands.

So he is a young operator, so what? I am sure he was sent to Shaolin Temple after his family was slaughtered by raging bandits. While there, a visiting diplomat from Singapore noticed his inate martial abilities and recruited him to work "for the black side of the government" (his quote)at the tender age of twelve. As such, he has been one of their most effective operators.

I must say, though, as many laws as they have in Singapore, I am surprised they have nothing codified that restricts their agents from identifying themselves or their activities on the WORLD WIDE WEB.

Now really, is that so hard to believe? I think Austin Powers has met his equal...

The best offensive weapon is the several MIRV's contained in the business end of an ICBM

Live Long & Prosper, so you can buy more knives

Nick,

I don't make the rules. I can't even say I agree with many of them. But, I hope you realize that if you get cought with a knife at school you might never get to own very many of them.

How many knives do you think you would be able to afford as a 50 year old burger flipper?

That's just where you might end up after you get thrown out of school.

Use your head, its the best weapon you have.

James - This is certainly a "loose thread".

Sing - I agree.

Offensive - A spray can of halitosis, one hand capability, clipped to your belt. This will certainly throw your opponent in defensive mode.

Okay, to continue beating a dead horse . . . obviously there is nobody out there with an in-depth knowledge of the cladistine and/or special operations, as the answer to this issue is well known to all us "double-naught" agents: the most effective edged weapon is the classic "shoe knife" as utilized by the great spymaster, Jethro Bodine.

Bad breath is one of the most offensive weapons I've come across. Once some one blows their stanky garlic encrusted onion breath my way I turn and run every time.

Hi all

I am from Singapore and from my understanding, anything above one inch is banned. The most popular knife used here is probably the gurka kukris tremendous chopping power. Otherwise go to Sungei Rd and buy an $8 parang, which should keep u occupied for a while and pls do not associate govt bodies in yr search.

I didn't have time to read everything.
Did anyone say screw driver.
