The Club and Improvised weapons thread (Post your Handy work!)

Legion12. . .that thing looks AWESOME!!!! Perfect piece of wood that already resembles a head. . .looks like you are gonna carve some teeth into it; that will look real slick!

Can't wait to see this one finished!

Thanks more work than I thought it would be. Been banned from sanding and using finishes in the house had a Aquafortis spill soon as it warms up a little getting that done.

Snowed in so I decided to make a addition to my arsenal.

Made them of oak so they should be quite durable and...

In my meat paw hands they would ring a bell easily

Also thanks WeaponCollector for providing a design for me.

The wood grain oriented the way it does on those 'knucks' is strictly a 'one shot deal' should you ever have to use them. Next pair you make turn the design 90 degrees; much stronger and less likely to mess up your fingers.

I realized that after I already had the finger holes drilled through, but I didn't see any sense in stopping. I really just meant for them to be sort've a 3D model for when I eventually make them out of steel.

Saw this article today and though it appropriate for this thread.
Some of the homemade weapons used in the recent Ukrainian Revolution:

Holy crap! Amazing.

Hope it doesn't come to anything like that in the USA, it could though, ya never know!

Okay time to put a little more life into this thread.

I'm in the school of thought that the basic crow bar (wrecking bar) would be quite possible one of the very few "if I could only have one single weapon/tool in a urban disaster or fallout type situation". May sound corney but I've even got one para cord wrapped in the jeep ready to go.

What size of crowbar? And how did you do the wrap?

Here's a couple;
First a cane with natural root-ball handle.
Teeth embedded.

And one forged;

Also forged were these iron mala (prayer) beads, strung on clutch cable. (The priests were being attacked!)
Packs a helluva wallop!

Last but not least, some pickax handles, silver coins and a bit of turquoise (and a pocket knife for whittlin')

Ankh you (single piece of redheart);

Always welcome to browse;

It's 24 inches. Anything bigger is a little too heavy to be carrying around and at 24 inches it will likely never break.....hits like powder keg (with the octagonal shape it's flat out deadly), and can pry or bust just about anything apart. It's not actually para cord I used. I forget what it's called but it's the same material used on Japanese swords. I wrapped it for a better grip and less shock transfer. After I wrapped it, I used about 10 coats of epoxy to seal it.

Inspired by the following thread started by Edwood7,
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/848028-Root-ball-head-war-club-How-to-make-one?
The thicker end was actually the root ball with some crazy hard end grain from all the roots that wore away.
I named it "Bam-Bam" since it looks like something from the Flintstones.
I like it! No cop or court of law will ever mistake this for a up-upmanship on the no-knife/no-gun/no weapon thing and by gosh it will bash heads with the best of them. Sledge handle is what lives behind the seat of my truck, but is no where near as convincing as what you've got.

Hell yes. There's just something appealing about the 24" goose neck crowbar. But only the goose neck kind, I hate the look of the ones that're practically L shaped.

Agreed Charlie. I may be mistaken.....but I believe the ones that you and I posted are actually called a wrecking bar. They have a slight upturn in the pry end that capitalizes in leverage. The ones with the pry end that are straight are called a crow bar. Again, I could be wrong but I believe that's correct.

I know this thread is a bit old but I just now found it. And I've got my own bludgeoning device to add.
I like the way you will be able to describe to police or doctors that the assailant will have a mirror image 'CHINA' imprint somewhere on them and hopefully on the forehead after soundly whooping them with this.

Oh that'll be simple. I'll just tell them that he started it.

Really if you made clean contact with that iron pipe hammer, you wouldnt need to describe the guy. He would be laying on the ground, dead or brain dead and twitching ..lol
Those plugs have a pretty narrow surface and would just punch a hole right in a skull.
