The Club and Improvised weapons thread (Post your Handy work!)

Pullrich, I would love to start the arsenal thread even though my arsenal is small, but I am leaving for two weeks in the woods looking for some meat for the table. I won't have time to start it before I leave or be able to monitor it if I did. Maybe, you could get it started.

Cool. I suggest making it clear that by Arsenal we are referring to blades, firearms, impact weapons, etc. Open to other points-of-view, of course

Thanks Chris! I'll check on the thread if you get it started before my departure and when I get back. I'm excited about the thread and can hardly wait for the pictures.

well, in light of the coming zombie apocalypse, I decided to make a medieval morning star. I took a 3 foot section of a solid steel bar about an inch thick, and welded 4 triangular pieces of 1/4 inch steel at the end.
I then took some 1/8th inch steel rod i had laying around and wrapped it around the handle as tight as I could and welded that on as well.
I named it, Headache Maker
The whole thing weighs about 10-15 pounds. We had an old car that was about ready for the scrap yard, so I used headache maker to open up the roof like a can of sardines. I will post pics as soon as I can figure out how to.

Looking forward to the pics lonewolf. Sounds like a brute that would be owned by a very large Viking or Highlander.

I need to post some of the items I have sitting around. I think yall will get the most out of the billy club my Grandfather made while he was a guard at a POW camp in North Carolina during World War II. The Germans were well organized disciplined soldiers and as such mainly policed themselves, but Grandad took about 18" of a broken broom about 1 1/4" in diameter and made a decent night stick out of it.

BTW I have a 1" ball bering laying around somewhere. Now I want to go weld it to a chain link and wreak some havoc with it!

I've got a 22oz. Estwing long-handled rock pick on the way. I plan on grinding the face on it into a 4-pronged war hammer head. :D

ok, hopefully this works

That thing is incredible. I think no one would know what the hell that thing was it you carried that monster around in you back seat.

Extra points for the first Dog club picture I have ever seen.I hope the mail man gets the message, and just stops dropping by your house. :D

I love this thread.:D
I gotta get of my azz and post an arsenal pic like was mentioned above, only a fraction of my stuff is handy though.

forgot I had this.

It was my grandfathers, he got it from his dad. The only thing that I remember about my great grandfather is that he was always smoking cigars, and this thing smells like cigars. don't know what type of wood it is, but I know that it has a lead core.
When my grandpa gave this to me, he told me the story of how he and his brother got into a fight one day, and it ended with my grandpa knocking his brothers front teeth out with this billy club. I think that his brother was really lucky, because this thing could easily have crushed his skull.

That sounds interesting. . .

I think so too! :D I've been hauling out some old fence posts and assorted debris from around the farm, and have been using an old beat-up framing hammer. I've had an easier time separating the old rotten fence sections by beating the boards with the hammer claw rather than yanking the rusted nails. I need a dedicated smashy thing! :p

A 30 inch crow bar works wonders on demolition.

Thinking of that, a former neighbor of mine was a jockey in his younger days.
He was at a mechanic shop and some bigger guy was picking on him.
He picked up a tire iron and batted the big guy up side the head.
Mean cuss he was.
A hospital wasn't needed....

Reminds me of this experience from my days in the service long ago. Some of us were charged with demolishing a warehouse full of surplus wooden furniture. We went back to our hangar and got a few of what we called an 'impact sledge'. It was used to knock/wedge struts/jacks under big planes. Anyway, it was a sledge hammer but the head was about the size of a human head, with a real heavy core... lead or steel I dunno. exterior was thick durable but yielding rubber material.... so it wouldnt just richochet off or spark or dent things you hit. You'd really have to wind up to use it. Long story short, back at the warehouse, we'd get a good wind-up spinning around like a hammer thrower and when you hit a big bureau or desk it wouldnt hardly slow down, would go right through it. Mission accomplished. Good times!

Crow bars are nice, but are designed for prying. I find the pick appealing because I can pierce THEN pry, and if I mod it with a four-pronged hammer face it'll rip chunks out of stuff too. Plus it'll just be FUN! :D

Love the story--you gotta' look out for the little guys. They learn to fight mean!

Just checked the tracking on the pick and it should be showing up today. I'll try to get some photos up when it gets here. :D

Edit: Well scratch that. Here's what the tracking says now.
