The Cold Steel AD10 is the best knife money can buy.

Demko’s CTS 204P is brittle… lol šŸ˜‚
I can’t believe someone bother to continue this thread.
He's guarding this thread, ready to defend the cold steel ad10 at a moments notice lol I don't think he realizes most agree the ad10 is a solid knife, but calling it the best and then relegating the customs solely as trinkets is where he's gone amiss.

True. As I said, for me, with thinner blade and different blade geometry, ad10 is a solid knife even on the large/heavier side.
id go with my tanto Voyager any time before I go with AD10 but I’m with you - it’s not a bad knife, just not the best.
ā€The Bestā€ā€¦ There is no such thing, the best depends of your personal needs and priorities. We use generally speaking same blanket standards but the Devil is always in the details, your personal preferences. What’s Best for him, may not be best for the rest of the posters and so far they are the one that can use valid arguments IMO.

I can’t believe this went 10 pages…
Cold steel is a good brand, my recon 1 is a beast. S35vn is great steel sure, but getting people on this forum to agree that ANY knife is the best just ain’t gonna happen lol
Like everyone is saying, people’s tastes differ, and not everyone wants or needs a $200 lockback.
It was fun to read some of the comments tho

Cold Steel is like the Glock of knife companies, and they both have the same problem. They both make great products that are tough, reliable, and highly functional at a great value, but the fans are so over the top/absolutist about the products that it gets cringy. "Anything other than X product will get you killed! If you get lost in the woods with anything other than Cold Steel, your knife will break and you will die! If you get in a gunfight with anything other than a Glock, your gun will jam and you will die!"

The AD10 may be the best overbuilt folder that money can buy, but IMO being overbuilt makes it a poor choice for most cutting tasks and not a good candidate for best knife overall.

IMO the AD10 is not the best survival knife money can buy because that would be a fixed blade with tougher steel than S35VN. The 3V SRK would have made a compelling candidate but not what I would choose.

I doubt the AD10 is the best folder because folders are for convenience, and if this was a convenient knife, it would make a great EDC knife.

I really don't know what the best knife money can buy would be, I hope that one day I will find one that fits the bill. For me, a PM2 with a blade similar to a Hogue RSK in M4 would be close but still, I think best by category would be a more productive discussion.

also i think the cold steel tuff lite is better than the ad10 because i carry the tuff lite everywhere because its smaller and easier to carry and a lot cheaper, while my ad10 always sat home until i sold it off, the tuff lite might really be one of the best knives money can buy

Is the triad lock weaker on mine? Don't think so.

Umm - well, yes. Yes it is. I know that because the article YOU posted pointed out that the custom has titanium liners and is thicker stock. That’s gonna make it stronger. Dare I say better? :)

It is a great knife for the price. I’ve had a few custom AD10s and sold them, as the Cold Steel actually had better fit and finish and I prefer S35Vn to 20cv. Go figure.

Well said!! Now, you see, that's exactly my point. All these people are going on and on about custom AD10s, and here you are just like me actually preferring the fit and finish of the Cold Steel AD10 and the S35VN steel blade, which I specifically mentioned last night. Thank you for your candor.

As for the rest of you, well, what do you know? Someone else besides myself giving an honest opinion and assessment on the Cold Steel AD10. See there---there's nothing wrong with being honest. I'd rather be honest any day of the week and twice on Sundays rather than grandstanding for a bunch of weaklings.

There are a lot more people out there that agree with me on the Cold Steel AD10, perhaps even more than care to admit. That much is a FACT.

I think we've had this conversation before, sir, and when you talk about knives like the CRKT Hissatsu and the Cold Steel Tuff Lite, I sincerely hope for your sake that you realize that you are not even in the same ballpark of knife usage and cutting requirements that I have as opposed to your borderline letter opener needs.

Some of the customs come full titanium with no liners. Significantly stronger.
Must be another one of those esoteric, LOL 🤣, theoretical points of which you alone are privy. Well, please show me video evidence of a Cold Steel AD10's failure v. a custom Demko BASED on the "significant" upgrades that you have mentioned with regard to hardware and whatever other balogna you mentioned, etc. And, spare me the fake garbage. Get real, or get lost.

You people need to understand that, in terms of practicality, which is what I'm talking about, there is no real difference between the Cold Steel AD10 and the custom version. Gawk at the custom knife all you want, but take the Cold Steel AD10 with you to get stuff done when you need a knife that you can rely and depend on in the toughest of situations. 'Nuff said.

You asked a question, I answered. You reject the factual answer. Email Andrew demko and ask about strength differences between the knives.

You're attitude is ugly, and as far as get real or get lost...lol been here almost 10 years. Take your own advice. This thread is hilarious, by all means.. continue to entertain.

That is not a "factual answer." That is conjecture or your part that you are masquerading as "fact," which is in fact, what you have been accusing me of. And, that's why you're a hypocrite, for accusing me of stating an opinion about the Cold Steel AD10 and calling it a fact. Here you are doing the same thing when reasonable minds could clearly differ on the issue.

I am not convinced by you, and you underwhelm me with your knowledge about knives.
