The Cold Steel AD10 is the best knife money can buy.

I like Cold Steel, sorta. However, not one knife in their catalog is the best you can buy...no matter how many exclamation points you toss in there ;)

It's a cool design, but it doesn't float my boat at all.
If they made a thinner, lighter version of it? I'd buy one. But as it stands, it's just too beefy & heavy for what I'd reach for in an EDC knife.

My conclusion is clear: the knives are functionally the same. There is no real difference unless someone asks for a steel, and I love S35VN steel. I don't want a super steel that is so hard that it's brittle. I've had excellent results with S35VN, and there's no reason in the world to buy a custom Andrew Demko knife unless you're a collector. I am not a collector, I'm a user.
I’m interested to hear your conclusion/interpretation?

I stated mine, what’s yours?

I've had a few demkos, recently handled 2 custom demko sharklocks one was 1500 bucks and the other was 2k. Is cold steel making a functional knife that's worth the price? Yes.

Are they on the same planet as the customs? Lol no.

The dude who had them used both of them and was actually pocket carrying them. (I was shocked on multiple levels because I've never ran into a guy carrying knives like that outside of bladeshow, and it was the first I'd seen the sharklock)

The higher end knives provide an experience that the budget coldsteel can never provide. Fit, finish, aesthetics, strength in this case, pride of ownership, and cool factor are in another league.

Yes the cold steel version works well, but customs have their place in pockets as well. You'll find many guys here carry high end knives that aren't sitting in a collection.

Then why are you on a knife discussion forum? Where opinions will plentiful...
Just here to proclaim your opinion and thump your chest lol good luck guy.
Bring your opinions on please, by all means, do that. But, when you stop talking about the knife and start insulting, you're going to get it back from me. I don't care if you think I'm wrong. Just stick to the knife discussion though...

I didn't insult you. Did I? I said you browsing his profile and using the fact he has a Yoda quote on it to discredit him was weak. Which it was.

I wasn't browsing his profile, the Yoda quote is below every comment he makes.

Now, you haven't stated what you think is the best knife that money can buy. Do you have any knives? Do you even have an opinion on this topic? I made a comment about that, and I stand by that comment, and that's what the thread is all about. My opinion is based on years of experience in the outdoors camping, fishing, hunting, hiking---not fidgeting with a custom made knife just to take out of the drawer and gawk at every other day or so.

For the record, I am talking about production knives; and I am talking about folding knives. I know for a fact that I can take my Cold Steel AD10 every trip I take, and I'm covered for anything. Will it function as well as Kabar Becker BK2 or a Fallkniven A1 in a survival scenario? No, of course not. However, it is more than capable.

I might have a few knives, and your declaration of the ad10 being the best knife money can buy has already been addressed. That's subjective and "best" is relative.

My issue is your incorrect assumption that all expensive knives are fidget toys or dust collectors in a collection. That's simply not true.

Best knife money can buy? The one you really want and can afford.

Oh, I have a cold steel ad15 on the way this week. Have been using and carrying coldsteels on and off since I deployed in 2010. They make great knives, but that doesn't mean expensive customs are safe queens exclusively. Plenty of guys and gals here carry and use knives North of 500 dollars here hell north of a grand or 2 grand.

Okay, fair enough. But, please tell me how my Cold Steel is somehow functionally inferior in a tangible way (not fashionable) to a custom made knife by Demko. Is the triad lock weaker on mine? Don't think so. It locks up like a bank vault, love the S35VN steel, and it's been through hell and back and still going strong...

Well for one, the custom demkos come in titanium and with better hardware. Ultimately making for a significantly stronger knife.

Is the cold steel version strong enough? Yes. Is the custom version stronger? Yes. There ya go.

In other words, it's prettier to look at and fancier than my plain old Cold Steel AD10.

The materials my knife is made with are more than adequate to any situation one can face and will stand up equally well to anything the Demko custom will.

Now, with that being said, you can talk all you want about how you think one blade steel is better than another, but I prefer S35VN steel in my knives.

See the bolded and underlined?

I answered your question with how the cold steel version is physically weaker than titanium customs. That has nothing to do with prettier or fancier. It has to do with sheer strength.

Then you deflect from that answer which directly answered your question with saying the cold steel is adequate and the custom is just fancier and prettier.
