The edc one knife challenge thread

12thMan, here is the link you're looking for. The Chinese-produced saber ground S35VN version is now out of production. The next version will be USA produced FFG in CPM-20CV.
.
Thanks man! I'm considering it since the new version will be USA made. Still, I'd like to know WHO is going to make it...

Used the Imperial recently to cut some onions for dinner. Worked extremely well, but not as well as dedicated kitchen knives. Won't be giving those up any time soon. Also I am already finding myself missing folders. It is hard to conceal this 5" blade at work, and I usually don't need that much blade. The challenge continues.

Yummy...

I by contrast do not find myself missing folders. When worn on the belt, this is easier to access, and it also is easy to access when slipped into the pocket. I do wish I had a pocket clip on this sheath or even a chain to connect it to a belt loop when I'd rather not display the knife.

Starting to love this Trekker so much I picked up a big and little brother for him.
I'll admit I'm a bit biased since I was raised in Idaho and my family heritage is from Sweden so a Scandi (ish) grind on an Idaho made knife is a no-brainer for me :)
.
Not sure yet if I'll stay with fixed blade EDC after this month is up, but so far I'm liking it quite a bit.

Okay, i begin by helping my wife with a salad, nobody like the chunky bits,so have to eat it myself, then prepare some poison bags for the orchids of the wifey to keep at bay the ants, then sharpen a pair of white color pencils

Alright, guys, I'll be off the grid this weekend doing some camping, and I'll give the Dozier a little workout.
I will have other blades with me, but those are in case the dozier breaks.

While I do not loathe my balisong, I'll be ready to go back to my auto when the month is out. If not for anything other than convenience.

This is hard. My problem is I conceal the woodcraft but then it's too big for anything I need to open without freaking others out. Personally I love it and big knives in general, but I may have to find a better way of carrying it

Finding that my Companion may have a thicker edge than I would prefer. Considering reprofiling it to 15 DPS. I'm also finding that S35VN dulls like any other steel I've used. Actually, it reminds me a lot of AUS8...luckily, that's in a good way, too. Not as difficult to maintain as I expected this knife would be.

I think that will help you a lot. Carry method is very important for fixed blades, I'm learning. I certainly wouldn't want to belt carry my Companion into a place with a high level of security presence, but slipped into my pocket it's just like an EDC folder.

I find this funny because I only own one pocket knife. No need for multiple pocket knives, so I carry and use the same knife every day until it breaks. Also see no need to carry a fixed blade every where you go, makes no sense. Need that fix blade for when you open your mail or cut a piece of fruit? I highly doubt any of you have any daily activities that justify the carrying of a big fixed blade. Dumb.

Cool, I don't think you entered the competition so no need to post here.

Edited to be on topic.

This is a great thread. Very interested to see what conclusions y'all reach at the end of the month.

Reported it for trolling an interesting thread. My humble advice would be to do that rather than sidetrack, as this is a cool idea that's generating some interesting pictures and content.

Good idea, thanks.

Back on track, the dozier accompanied myself and my significant other out to Mexican, and is currently on standby

Neat. So you're a flat out liar too, according to your OWN post you made at 1:44 TODAY : http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1043847-Just-pix-of-knives?p=15836818#post15836818

The little knife that could keeps at it: sharpening pencils, cutting and stripping wire, cutting plastic and tape to cover the head of a ratchet whose handle I sandblasted for grip (a great improvement.) It even came in handy when I was cutting angle iron on a horizontal bandsaw; I used a scrap piece of aluminum for the vice to hold the angle iron steady as the angle iron has rounded edges and corners. I couldn't hold the piece in place while tightening so I put the knife between angle iron and aluminum, tightened, and slid the knife out.

That is fantastic for you. Keep in mind, not everyone on the planet is the same. Your needs are not the same as mine or anyone else's. Not sure what you are really trying to get at other than maybe some negativity with your snarky comments and dismissive insinuations. I'm not going to waste my time, or anyone else's trying to explain anything to you. Suffice it to say that if you have a solution that works for you, regardless of what that solution is, that is all that matters. No need to go so far out of your way to demonstrate how little you think of others personal choices. Next....

We aren't going here, if you persist you are not going to like the outcome. Let it go, your commentary and response is no better than the one that initiated it.
