The edc one knife challenge thread

I find this funny because I only own one pocket knife. No need for multiple pocket knives, so I carry and use the same knife every day until it breaks. Also see no need to carry a fixed blade every where you go, makes no sense. Need that fix blade for when you open your mail or cut a piece of fruit? I highly doubt any of you have any daily activities that justify the carrying of a big fixed blade. Dumb.

Also, way to find yourself the first person on my ignore list... Congrats.
*at least the user name is fitting.

Guys, let's keep this on track. This is a positive thread that's getting people engaged in opening up to other knives. Let's ignore the troll and keep this on track

Done...

I've actually not been finding many uses for my little knife thus far. Been a busy week, and other then a few zip ties, and tape on some boxes, haven't been going out of my to create any other cutting opportunities (yet) to really get a feel for what it's capable of in regards to my typical larger folders

Sorry fellas, but I'm out. If I get reprimanded for standing up to a troll around here I'm just going to let my membership lapse and be done with it.
.
It's a cool idea Riley12. Thanks for setting it up.

Standing up to a troll? You were simply adding to the overall melee is what you were doing. If you care so much, report the post and let us handle it. We aren't going to have people blasting each other in a discussion forum, we've had enough of that nonconstructive garbage already. No need for butt hurt now.

Like to fire up my smoker the old fashioned way. Using the Barky to help accomplish that.

On drinks duty at the end of a long day. It did other more serious work, but there was no time for photos then.

I don't like little knives for food prep I have decided, although to its credit the little beast DID get the orange cut for the negroni.

You may carry others but you must use your choice as the SOLE cutting tool!
Why would one even carry another knife if one had absolutely no intention of using it?

For the last 16 months (since November 2014) this is the only knife I've carried in my pocket (carried a Victorinox Farmer on my belt too).

In that time this knife has clipped veggies from vines, peeled and sliced fruit, cut any manner of things, cleaned my finger nails, repaired my cheater eyeglasses, cut and repaired a fuel line, pulled pickles out of a jar, snipped rings off the Gatorade bottles I use as U/L water bottles, opened any number of those damnable clam packs so many retail products come in these days, sharpened pencils, sliced clear shelf paper I use to cover topo sheets, took spring bars off wristwatches, opened a fireproof box, notched and pointed improvised tent stakes, cut dovetails, cut and pulled splinters from hands, cut back the cake on my tobak pipes, pulled stitches from fabric, whittled a back scratcher, cut and sliced an improvised hatchet sheath from an old garden hose, and a slew of other things I can't even now recall.

It really does do everything I need it to do whether in the city or afield. Like my father and grandfathers before me, I haven't found myself, and don't consider myself, "under-knifed" with such a slipjoint. It's a pocket knife and does what I expect of a pocket knife.

This thread is only for the competition. Most people carry more than one knife, thanks.

This knife is a great little cutter. Having difficulty maintaining the hair popping edge I like, so I'm going to let the edge wear a bit and see where that goes.

Alright, guys, I'll be off the grid this weekend doing some camping, and I'll give the Dozier a little workout.
I will have other blades with me, but those are in case the dozier breaks.

This might sound dumb, but i would love to see you do a review on the Dozier after the challenge, with some of your thoughts and picture of usage on the knife! Cheers!

Well, it did well enough to slice up a pear and a banana

Though I gotta say, I missed the extra 0.25"+ I'm used to while slicing the pear.

Look what I found this morning. A little patina from last nights dinner prep. Starting to develop some character.

Meat cutting patina is the prettiest! Blues and oranges swirling around, sometimes I just slice into my steak with other knives so I can look at all of them after dinner.

I'm going strong with my Sentry, not sure if it is a sentry but ill call it that, slicing layouts on micarta for scales I'm cutting out yesterday, doing some more reaming in brass, and I even had to hammer it through some brass pin stock. I touched up the edge last night, since it's been getting quite a bit of metal cutting use. I've been too focused on what I'm doing to take pics, although that isn't such a bad thing.

The Dozier held up really well this weekend with carving tasks etc. unfortunately no pictures!

Those are some cool pics, Riley.

I've been using my Companion for lots of cutting I've deemed too trivial to bother with pictures (opening packaging, cutting lose threads, etc.) and it's still going strong one week into the challenge.

What I did do is change the scales.

I've decided that for the duration of the challenge, I'm not going to sharpen the Companion at all unless absolutely necessary. The initial light sharpening I did before the challenge has worn down and the knife is now cutting just as it did out of the box again...which is quite well.
