The Flea Market Mung Absolution Thread

It amazes me how some new makers don't even try to disguise how much they're copying the Fiddleback format. I know it's an old industry and all but still....create your own style if you're going to be a maker.

What's the saying? "Often imitated, Never duplicated!"

I can't believe what is currently still sitting in the Flea Market. There are some beauties!

Fogdart is great

I sent you email via your profile and a visitor message a couple days ago and have since withdrawn the knife. Your PM box was full

Phillip,
I am so sorry! I was wondering why I had not heard back from you. I know it gets full from time to time. I try to keep the total number down but sometimes it hits that ceiling. Thank you for the PM though. I hope all is well with you.

Someone buy my knives!! :)

I just did! ... and Thank You! :D I picked up Dcaggie06's cornflower blue Arete. I admit I have never even looked twice at cornflower blue but something started pulling me in. I have wanted an Arete for awhile. I messaged Dave and he told me that handle had a little old school Bushcrafter feel to it. Along with a 5/32" blade. That's a combo that falls right into my wheelhouse.

Anybody have thoughts on the cornflower blue? I never saw this coming but I've become smitten with the stuff.

Dave

I had never been interested in it until Duder posted pics of his Gaucho...that one definitely caught my eye!

Nice score, Dave! The Arete is my favorite knife in the 4" category, and your new Arete is absolutely gorgeous.

I think the cornflower blue looks amazing. One great thing about it, particularly as a bushcraft knife; that shade of blue doesn't really exist in nature. No matter where you set it down, if you happen to forget and walk away it should always be easy to spot, even on the floor of a forest.

I think you'll like the blue stuff Dave. Though they're photogenic, its hard to capture with a camera just how vibrant the cornflower blue scales really are. It also handles water very well. Not as much fading as micarta. I was going back and forth with purchasing that arête. My wife said she wanted to get me a fiddleback for Father's Day and my birthday (both in June) and I was very close to calling the Arête. In the end, I chose the curly Q recluse. The scales aren't much to look at, but I'm giving heavy thought into dying the burlap scales true black with RIT dye. If it comes out right (the only thing standing out on the handle should be a bright and shiny bullseye lanyard tube and a nice curly Q), it should be a stunner. Now if I can just find a sheath.

Enjoy the Corn flower blue buddy.

Very cool idea Duder -- keep us posted!!

@Dave - I think you will like the cornflower, I once had a sweet asp in that handle config and didn't truly appreciate how cool it was until it was gone ;)
