Why are you dredging up this now? It has nothing to do with what has happened today. There's a line between venting/supporting your position and causing trouble. This seems to cross it.

I started this thread with the attempt at curtailing personal attacks and "mung" in the sales thread. I will close it if that line keeps getting crossed--and I'm not just talking to Cassander.

This forum is very dear to me. I hate seeing ANYONE doing things that undermine and destroy it.

Every seller has the right to refuse to sell their item to a particular person or change their mind all together. Bitching, crying, and complaining publicly about it just shows your lack of character IMO. This absolution thread was started after you last public tantrum .. some might call that a clue.

A PM in the beginning that said "dude take that crap down" would've worked equally as well as all this nonsense.

I didn't call you a bitch. I used the word as a verb to describe your actions in my opinion, but you continue to twist things said so you look like a victim. More evidence that you have zero character sir. YOU should let it go - not us. YOU are the source of improper behavior here .. the rest of US are having to deal and tolerate you continuing to muck up this very social sub forum. Please stop it.

Ok this is just disingenuous. No one buys your "I didn't call you a bitch, I said you were bitching." I'm not someone's stupid wife who can be hushed with nonsense.

How about we all take a deep breath, and just walk away. I realize my culpability in this, I know I'm not a victim but I did get a bit screwed. I'll stay out of the threads, much better conversations over in traditionals anyway, and just hunt my knife. I've no desire whatsoever to screw this forum up. In fact, I was about to unsubscribe from the whole thing but that didn't quite work out. Whoever it was that said it, you can tell your wife that no, I'm actually not doing it on purpose.

I really ONLY want to buy one knife. That is my single motivation. Sincere thanks to everyone who PM'ed me.

Cassander, that is absolutely and utterly out of line. I explained this throughly to you last time you posted complaints and personal attacks in that thread. This is not acceptable behavior in this forum. I explained that very clearly.
 
Folks this forum is for my friends and customers. I consider y'all family. I didn't see anything anyone did in this instance as wrong with the exception of Cassender and I hold none of you as wrongdoers. Even the person that sold the knife to whom he chose to sell the knife to was within his rights to do so IMO. Because of this, I have re-opened this thread. I happen to like this one a lot and don't want to see it closed because of this incident. Michael, if you absolutely need to have this thread closed then I will re-close it. But I think its a great thread, and I hope you let me leave it open.

Since this was the second time Cassender posted criticism and sarcasm in the Flea Market thread which is against Bladeforum policy, I have asked the mods to step in and keep him away from our forum.

There is no need for any additional comment on this issue here or anywhere else. Also, if Cassender shows back up and begins being belligerant again, or starts to cause trouble for us in any other area on Bladeforums please don't pile on. Please simply send me a PM with a link and explanation so I can report it to the mods.

Seriously though, it means a lot to me that you understood the intent of the thread and have had some fun with it. I think "between incidents" it has been a blast.

After closing the thread and stepping away from BF for the night, I've done a lot of thinking about all this too. I know there will always be those who breeze through the forum who are only after a knife. And I suspect they will always be a little frustrated and/or disappointed. Because the Fiddleback forum is (and I hope remains) more than just a place to buy a knife. It is a community of people who appreciate not just the tools, but the people behind them. We enjoy appreciating your knives together, too, and that is something special (even if that something special is a bit intangible).

I hope we can be patient with those who are only here to buy a knife, but I understand that my frustration (at least) was due to the fact that someone was peeing in the pool. Maybe they are just interested in cooling off, but some of us like to swim here. The disrespect shown to you (Andy) was far more infuriating than any shown to me or other members. My hyperbole wasn't hyperbole; it was passion. My business is community; I know how it is destroyed, and I know how difficult it is to recover from damaging behaviors. I realize I have absolutely no authority here (or probably anywhere, for that matter), but I do believe in this community. Yes, I have invested in it, but community does not get built without investment--and perhaps more significantly, this community has invested in me too, in profound and unexpectedly generous ways. For that, you (Andy) and many others have my deepest appreciation and respect.

But I love that movie. Dylan and I throw quotes back and forth all the time from Princess Bride. Did anyone ever read the book? It was written 400 ish years ago IIRC. Really neato. S. Morganstern.
 
Love that movie. I got most of the way through the abridged version of the book, by William Goldman, who wrote the screenplay for the movie. He says he took out the long and boring parts, but I would kind of like to try the full version to fully get all of the satire of the times

I own the DVD! It really is a funny movie. I never realized there was a book, I'm going to look into it!
