More belly on the B8 than the others. Thoughts on that (e.g., longer usable portion with large choil, improved chopping)?

To me it indicates that the tip should be a little more stout - better for prying. Knives that I've had with a small belly generally have a longer taper (spine view) near the point, giving it a more nimble tip.

So we might as well machine-gun you with questions while you have it out...:D

Have you put a ruler on the blade to see what actual length is?

Family's almost here...

Real quick answers:

Blade Length = 8-1/8"

It's a Nimble Chopper if that makes sense?!?!?

Thanks, Stump! Great pics and info! Enjoy the fam!

"Nimble Chopper" is largely how I'd describe the B7, so this is sounding very good to me.

I would have thought that the B8 would feel a bit heavier than that. Is the full convex grind pretty minimal then?

I'm wondering the same thing. I'm impressed that in the photos, the plunge grind apparently meets the spine. On both the other full-convex knives I'm most familiar with, the NMFBM and Skinny ASH, the plunge starts well down from the spine. This would seem to indicate the B8 is ground a little thinner?

I noticed the same. The plungeline on my FSH was nearly halfway down the blade. I loved that. :D I attributed it to the fact that the knife had been sent back to the shop to be stripped and doublecut - thinking the shop may have thinned the knife a tad bit to get rid of dimples.

I know that the knife is thinner, and from knives that I've stripped, the coating is a surprisingly large portion of the weight of a knife. Still thought it would weigh about the same as the camp tramp. It's all good, though.

Like I said, this could be interesting! :D

How lucky was that....That's the one kin blade I happen to have right in front of me...
Sorry about the washed out colors...(quick cell phone pic)
Awesome, thanks!! That just gave me goosebumps seeing it next to a RMD,, much bigger than I thought!!! Cant wait to get mine tomorrow!!!!!:D:D:D

Everyone should be arriving in the driveway any minute now unless they took a scenic route (ie...lost).;)

The plunge line does go all the way to the spine, in fact, on closer inspection, mine is actually ground away on the non-lasered side a little. You can see and feel the transition when you look at the spine and run your finger along the right edge. The grind is actually full height flat (confirmed with a steel straight edge) with a convex edge, so that probably explains the light feel in the blade. Mine also has the INFI micro ridges/wrinkles that I've seen on some thinner stocked satin blades (ie - CABSLE).

The balance point is between the talon hole and the plunge line at the choil with the exact balance point just to the rear 1/3 of the finger choil if that makes sense.

I hope this helps a little more with the wait and I look forward to hearing everyone else's comments once they receive theirs!!!

Keep the pics and info coming (I'll be checking in when I can and after everyone heads to bed.:D

Uh...so much for paying attention?

Don't mind the full flat grind at all--keeps it nice and light and should be a better cutter than full convex. Would have loved to order them with an asym grind, though. Oh, well.

Guy, is yours close to the advertised weight--14.3 oz or something like that?

I'm not good at pics, but here ya go.

YUP, I like her. She at least feels lighter in the hand than I expected and Beef put a mean edge on her. Her first cut out of the Busse tactical combat cardboard sheath was, what else, BACON! I think she might be a Cannibal. ;)

My two 8's arrived today guys...a couple pic's.
Very light weight & quick in hand especially compared to NMSFNO.

Spine Shot...

I'm not the best photo or review guy but the light weight is definitely something I'm not used to...
