The kinda unspecified CRK talk thread.

Thanks Elliot. Yes the struggle is real, however I am pretty confident this will complete what I admit is my CRK collection ( of users). I won't say its my last knife but Im not sure what else I am even interested in at this point.
I have confidence in you...

Notice, I didn't say in which direction... 🤣

How do Sebenzas with polished blades compare to the typical stonewash blade finish? Does it show wear much more easily? Fingerprint magnet? Bet they look incredible when clean.

I have been using a new PJ with polished blade for a couple of weeks, and it already has a couple of small scratches on the blade. That's OK by me. I'm sorta doing a test to see how it holds up before putting any of my treasured CRKs (with polished blades) to daily use.

I tend to rub the blade down with the oil on my fingers. All the time. Gross as it sounds, it keeps it from tarnishing, hides any small scratches, and I swear it makes the knife move through material better. Sometimes I wonder if I started doing this to remove/hide the fingerprints, lol.

Haha , finger oil , I’ll have to remember that trick.

The polishing process makes the blades a wee bit thinner, if that matters to you.i

Interesting. I never thought about that. I’m more partial to stonewashed personally but sometimes I just get smitten with the look of a nicely polished blade. Thanks for the info. And I have no idea why some of my posts are being displayed twice today. Ah well.

Some CRK questions I have :

1) I’ve seen “PJ” a few times when people are talking about their CRK’s. What does it mean?
2) What are the rarest Sebenzas and Inkosis?
3) Does CRK ever do limited editions that are numbered?

Just learning as I go.

I’m honestly still learning. So much history with CRK.
I had no idea there was so much history and info on CRK. I love to do research so this scratches me right where I itch. The kids are at their cousin’s and the wife is heading to the mall soon. And my chores are done. So I’ll be sinking my teeth into all that juicy CRK info while I have the house to myself. And I’d like to order my new one by mid-week. Deciding is part of the enjoyment for me.

The deciding is second for me. I enjoy the hunt the most.

The rarest Sebenza’s are the regulars with some type of graphic, I’ve got a Stars and Stripes regular that people have offered stupid money to buy, the Native American is highly sought after. There are others that you don’t see in the wild very much. I would one of the rarest Inkosi is the brass inlayed that was offered as a raffle at Blade in 2016 I believe. There were only 10 made. I’ve see some others that were limited also. CRK has done some numbered limited knives in the past. I’ve only have one and it wasn’t cheap.

There are also quite a few one-offs out there - I‘ve commissioned a few over the years that I foolishly sold or traded (small PJ Regular w/ blue Spirograph damascus and PJ Umfaan immediately come to mind… 🤬)

I’ve seen some unique graphic Sebenzas at dealers. Some look nice. But I’m not sure if I’d take that over an inlay.
