The kinda unspecified CRK talk thread.

My Regular is super super smooth. When I first got it in 1998 it fought me every step of the way.

That's good to hear. My Regs are what I think a slow-roll should be, but they are old and weren't new when I picked them up. It's encouraging to know that this puppy might break in. If it does, I'll be a 31 guy.

Maybe break it down and give it a good clean and re-lube. I have had a couple come with some build grime now and then.
Good advice. I've cleaned it each week (x3). It gets a little smoother each time.

I know CR was the inventor of the integral lock.

But was he also the invetor of the pivot bushing? Or was that invented before the Sebenza was created?

Both of my 31s are very tight also (so far). But, I wanted to work them a bit before I did the first clean/lube, which should help loosen them some.
Mine was also tight. I’ve been carrying it for the last two weeks. I fidget with it as I’m driving. After the first week I noticed a huge improvement. I could suddenly flick it open with the thumb and no wrist. Since it’s started to break in, it’s an absolute joy to handle. The acoustics are also one of a kind and excellent. After breaking it in, I cleaned and lubed it and it was even better. Absolute pleasure to break in and now I love it!

Nice, dude. You've got me inching toward an Inkosi purchase.
You know I love me some CRK and own a wide variety of them. I really believe it’s the best they ever designed or made. I think is the perfect edc when combined with the Insingo blade. Work, play, office( my office anyway) or job site its the only knife a fella needs in my opinion.
Its an incredibly tough and versatile tool.

Like an idiot I sold my first one and this was the first I saw for-sale since. Yes I got very lucky as I checked the exchange at just the right time.
So, what you're saying, in effect, is now that all is rosy in the kettle-world, I should expect the tanto 'zaan in the mail any day now.

Any day, now.

Any day, now.

Right?

☺️

Momma told me to never say never!

I’d been eyeballing CRKs for awhile now, but I always balked at the prices. I don’t know why, but I finally caved in a few weeks ago and grabbed this Mnandi on the exchange. It was a good price, and as usual, I was scanning the classifieds during another bout of late-night insomnia, which is never a good idea. I think I’ve bought most of my collection in those all too frequent sleepless nights. But anyway … The action on the Mnandi was so insanely smooth, and the exceptional build quality, I got the itch for another one. Then this Inkosi showed up last week, and it was exactly what I was looking for to scratch that itch. Both were way more than I ever thought I’d pay for a knife, but sometimes you just gotta say WTF. You only go around once. No regrets, as these are both really, really nice knives, but now I definitely need to lock away that credit card for awhile.

It will be interesting living with these two large for a bit to see how they compare. The first thing I noticed when I got it in hand is the lanyard positions. On the Sabenza, the lanyard is in the middle at the end and out of the way. On the Inkosi, it is at the top and makes its presence felt right at the edge of the palm. Instead of letting the handle sink into the palm a little like on Sabenza, on the Inkosi, it's almost like an extension to the handle. I'll have to live with it a bit to see if it matters in practice.

Those of us who have come to love the insingo blade shape; do you prefer the Inkosi or the Sebenza - and yes they are slightly different.
And large vs small preferences in those choices?

My large Sabenza is Insingo while my small is drop point. For Inkosi, I changed it so the small Inkosi is insingo while the large is tanto. But, I don't have the swaps for those (yet), a small Sabenza insingo and large Inkosi insingo. Hmmm. I see more CRK in my future. 😂

The grooves in the large Inkosi handle seem to fit my hand slightly better than the large Sabenza. The small Sabenza is good for the pocket, but not quite as good in the hand; my pinky holds more of the lanyard instead of the handle. (glove size L)
