The kinda unspecified CRK talk thread.

I had a KSF Linen Micarta Magnacut Insingo for about 11 minutes on Monday before I moved it on.
If you don't mind, what was it about that one that prevented it from sticking around? I'm debating with myself about a reorder of that lost shipment with the small red linen insingo Inkosi or something different. It's no rush for me. But, lately, I seem to be preferring the large CRKs more than the small, though I only have the S31.

Oh don’t get me wrong, It was an absolutely amazing knife! I moved it to a member with a wtb thread. I really enjoy the hunt so sometimes I’ll see a thread and see if I cant find one. In this case I did and was able to help someone out.

Im a PJ guy so there wasnt a chance it would find a home with me.

Removing "character" marks ... no way, I like to leave the wrinkles on mine!

The CF 21 came in two days ago and has been in my pocket since then.

The seller did a remarkable job of showing the flaws and was very up front about them. The only surprises I had were pleasant ones.

The knife indeed has character. It is a great carry piece that I won't hesitate to use for any activities from down and dirty to dressing up (like I ever actually do that).

I just finished taking the 21 down as the action was a little sticky. It was very clean inside, but totally dry.
Re assembling with a trace of lube, and the action now makes my jaw drop at how smooth it is.
No "CRK thumb" from this one !

There has been talk about the strength and durability of the carbon fiber scales.

If this knife is any example, there are signs of use and carry on the lock side, clip and blade. But the carbon fiber is in remarkable condition.

I have had a lot of experience with carbon fiber over the years in various uses from bicycles, canoes and kayaks (boats and paddles which are mind boggling light and strong/stiff) etc, and I have no fear of durability issues from it.

This one is a keeper, and I see no reason to 'spa' it any time soon.

(Pics or it didn't happen)

I also would like to see a photo of the difference in Ball groove/non ball groove Inkosi, and if anyone knows what date /month the change was made, it would be appreciated. Thanks, Bart

CONGRATZ!!
I really need to find myself a large 21 in the new year. Preferably damascus and TBH I got no clue of where to look except for here.

Large Sebenza Carbon Fiber available from KA in drop point and Insigno if anyone is looking for one. Also some smalls and an Inkosi or two. I got a small 31 carbon insingo last week and I’m very impressed by how light it is. I was looking for this configuration all year! I wasn’t even sure it was available in other blade shapes for the 31, this may be the first batch.

Can’t justify a large right now, maybe next year. Would be happy to live vicariously through anyone here that picks one up though!

I ordered one CF Large Drop Point with $50 shipping. My country was listed and it said $50 shipping. After couple of hours they send info about extra $50 shipping fee that I would have to pay.

I get that EU is a "remote" location, but $100 shipping fee for a pocket knife is just...

I paid less than $50 shipping for a $900 Zpacks tent from the USA.

End of rant. Cancelled my order and will never order anything from KA again.
That’s a shame, sorry to hear that bro. I was actually really impressed with their shipping. I had it in 3 days from the purchase. I actually really like KA.

I have ordered many knives from the USA including Sebenza 21, 31 etc. I have never had any store from the USA contacted me after the purchase that I need to pay extra shipping on top of the shipping fee they list for my country. KA asked 100% more than they listed after the order I paid.

That is one good way of getting unhappy customers.
I hear ya, I’d be doing the same thing.

Well... After 1 day and 1 review later KA contacted me. After couple of emails we agreed and the Large Sebenza 31 CF Drop Point is joining my small but stedily growing CRK family.
Well played!

Glad to hear it! Your going to love it, the weight is significantly lighter!

Before my small broke in and I was running the pivot a bit loose it did. There's enough residual lock tite in the barrel now that it hasn't been an issue. One of the stop pin screws started to back out when I had it on loan before purchase from Kettleman Kettleman . I haven't carried that one much just yet, but I did put a dab of lock tite on that screw before mailing it back to him.

Edited for autocorrect mistakes.

The pin post above was the only one in one of mine. I did have an inkosi that I had to tighten and loctite every screw to keep them seated. I checked all the screws on my new 31 this morning and all tight so we will see what the next week of carry shows. They do include the loctite so they must want it used.
