The Knife Life (Minor Topics and Random Stuff Thread)

Yeah John, but can your daughter handle you eating beans for a month?! Lol

LOL!!! Y'all just gave me the pick me up I needed to get through this shift :D

I get paid next week and am already looking at a few different blades right now. There's no cure for this addiction, is there?

No cure at all brother! Just more indulgence... Good thing it's better for your health than drugs!

today i was introduced to my public speaking class as a scientist who spends too much money on knives and has more excuses to use his knife for mundane tasks than he has excuses to not use it......it's oddly accurate

Well, better maybe. But certainly not "good". I've gotten far too many new scars since getting into knives......:p

And perhaps not having arm hair could be unhealthy in some way???:D

with the fact everybody wears clothes the majority of the time we don't need the body hair from an evolutionary standpoint anymore anyway, so really we should be slowly getting less hairy through the generations, we're just ahead of our times!

Oddly enough I do feel much swifter after sharpening a knife. Almost like I'm more aerodynamic.

That feel when your grail knife shows up on the exchange but you won't have the money for it for a couple weeks and it'll almost definitely be sold by then :(

Here is some information on it... Similar to Super Blue the color in the name comes form the paper that the steel is wrapped in from the manufacturer.

Shirogami
White steel (also known as “white paper steel”, named for the wrapping used by its manufacturer) is used to make tools that
can be sharpened to an excellent edge with good quality natural stones. It is a carbon steel with only very small amounts of the
impurities P (phosphorus) and S (sulfur). It has a very narrow range of temperatures for hardening (Yakiire and quenching),
and thus requires the blacksmith to be very skilled. There are three forms of white steel with different carbon contents: #1 (1.2-
1.4% C), #2 (1.0-1.2% C) and #3 (0.8-0.9%).
