The Knife Life (Minor Topics and Random Stuff Thread)

I got funny looks from my family when I stood in the kitchen on thanksgiving stropping my opinel 9 before I sat down to eat. That's all right. We'll see who's laughing when someone needs emergency open heart surgery, and all they have are some old dull Paula Dean kitchen knives.

i was hanging with my gf's brother who is a nyc cop, and my gf said i didnt need my knife to open a package and i said no i dont but its faster, to of which he said but it makes it dull faster. i pulled the lansky strop i have in pocket and said i carry a strop with me everywhere. and he said of course you do, i then said i had another backup knife also

And then they ran away?

:D

You know, I'm still pretty happy with all the knives I've got. Been selling a few here and there too. The money still gets spent, just elsewhere.

Tell me about it. If my money doesn't go to knives it goes straight to another one of my interests. I really want to take a little break and put some towards a tattoo right now, because once the weather gets nice I go kayak fishing at least once a week. I'm trying to think of something knife related. The only thing I've come up with would be a stiletto on the back of my fore arm, but I just haven't been REALLY into the hobby for that long. Other options would be just another band art tattoo.

Cool man! New ink is always cool. I'm not tatted but I respect the art form a lot. I ended up scoring one of my grail watches a couple of days ago and am going to be riding out the high on that for quite some time I imagine. Still going to get the Rolex GMT next year but as for this year, I'm super happy with the Omega Seamaster I just ordered. Been after that one longer than the Rolex and it was more within reach. Now I just gotta keep holding out on the next Sebenza at BLADE.

Ok gentlemen... opinions please :D
Recently I have been blazing through the relatively new federal aluminum cased 9mm ammo. When suddenly at the range I got the idea to craft an aluminum lock bar stabilizer and see which I liked better between it and the brass. I have never seen an aluminum one yet...just brass and nickel. I think I like it better. What say you?
Oh and it has a ss screw but in the pic it looks black.

Looks great, man! The one I shipped it with was terribly made, I must admit. All uneven and whatnot. I was surprised you didn't take it off immediately:p

Nah..yours was good to go. Really like the bullet affect just thought the aluminum was cool because it was different. Took me an hour with a hack saw. Ha. Used a tiny bit and the hole turned out perfect. Smoothed the bottom side by sliding it over a piece of sand paper on a hard flat surface. I think I will keep it a while till the OCD kicks in..

A thread for semi-useless topics? Well then, mathematically speaking, the probability of me cutting myself with my bali is 1/200 for easy stuff. 1/10 for a new move.

How do you make that Turks head knot? I still can't figure it out. I'm a fishin knot guy.

Go to animatedknots.com. They have step by step tutorials on almost any knot you could want to put on a knife lanyard. They are very easy to follow. You can go at your own pace - you can go fast through the stuff you understand, and go back through the stuff you need to see step by step.
