The Knife Life (Minor Topics and Random Stuff Thread)

Sweet looking blade!

Speaking of plain janes, I carried mine today instead of the wood inlay. Just felt like getting back to basics.

No pics unfortunately, but no one wants to see it anyway:p

All scratched up and with only half a blade

Is it really that small now? Thanks.

That lg. blue looks awsome! That's the first one I've seen polished first, and I must say it really makes it pop.

Thanks, it's a small though. That pic is actually recent, the owner sent it back for a refinish. Here's my ole blue/purple Large

Yeah, nevermind, you're right. You need to add that to the oversharpened CRK thread!

So I got an update on the custom.

Dario says the heat treat is done on the knife, and he's going to test for hardness tomorrow. Then he'll start grinding.

DREAM BENZA DAY! WOOT WOOT:thumbup:

I was pulling into my driveway and saw the mailman a couple houses past mine, so I ran eagerly to the mailbox. When I didn't see anything, I remembered that it was insured so I had to sign for it. Doh!

After sprinting down the block, I caught up to the mail truck and flagged him down to ask if he had my package. Guy says yes and I sign, and my dream benza is in my hands at last!

I open the package, and there it is, in all its glory. The cf inlayed stabby.........

Not only is it as good as I had hoped for, it's actually BETTER in some ways. For instance, the previous owner put a beautiful edge on it, so it's easily popping hairs. But more importantly, there isn't any noticeable blade wear. Maybe even less than my wood inlay.

It also got perfect 60-70 ish percent lockup, solid as a tank, and SUPER smooth. It's obvious the guy carried it quite a few times before, as there's a little blue missing from the stud and the non presentation side slab has a couple scratches near the pivot. The pocket clip is a little beat up as well, but it doesn't matter much to me as this won't be a safe queen. The CF is still in great condition and the blade is free if any scratches.

Overall I'm extremely happy with the knife, and I can already tell this will be my most carried stabby:thumbup:

But of course you guys don't care about any of this if there aren't pics involved:D

So here are a few quick iPad shots.......

I'll try to get better ones later, and maybe a family portrait ;)

Very nice! I would kill to get my hands on a lg. insingo cf inlay.
I also had a new knife day.
I'll be honest. So I ordered the Fantoni HB01 pretty much convinced that I would immediately find a flaw and return it, because it has been pretty hard finding a large knife that fits all of my requirements ( great f and f, good blade to handle ratio which has been the hardest to come across, not too bulky/ overbuilt, etc...) Then I intended on using the returned credit to soften the blow on a new CRK.
Well I'm happy to say that the only way this knife could have better fit my requirements were if I went custom. One of my only gripes is the useless flipper tab. I really wish they would have strengthened the detent a tad and extended it a hair to make it functional or removed it altogether. I am just happy that I can quit looking for that "perfect" 4" knife (for now) and start saving for another sebenza. Also, I wasn't sure if a g-10 liner lock/ s35v knife could really justify almost $300, but again I was wrong. The tolerances are beyond excellent. There is ZERO play in any direction. The g-10 kind of steps down to the ti liners giving it a slight border which breaks up the monotony of plain black scales. The hardware has a nice worn in finish. The second finger groove makes for a very comfortable/ solid grip. And man is this thing breaking in quick. It has only been a few hours, and I've already seen a significant change in smoothness.
Again, I have only had this thing for a few hours, so I'm sure I could double this list after really using it.
Whoa, when I started typing I did not intend to write a novel...

Awesome knife.

So, I got the day off today. Including the Sage 2 which I'll post today, I have 3 anodizing requests I'm doing right now. I figured now is as good a time as any to upgrade my membership.

Hey, congrats dude! Youre now an officially recognized BF pimper:thumbup:

Thanks dudes.

SSS- All I do is refinishing (satin, high polish) and anodizing . That may change in the future if I have the time to pick up some new tricks.

I went a different route with the Sage 2. The original combo looked good but not on the Sage 2 (brown and blue). Instead I went with an almost grey cobalt for the main color and hot violet edging for the highlights. Hopefully whoever gets this will enjoy it lots. I'm actually going to be making a specific thread for this so I can keep it open to all/most members.
