The Knife Life (Minor Topics and Random Stuff Thread)

Lol:D

You would respond like this, ya old killjoy! I meant disposable cash.

I've got a plan for college already. My priorities aren't THAT screwed up;)

And besides, I only allow myself to spend on knives what I've gotten back from selling other knives. So now that I have some available, I'm wondering what new knife opportunities I should pursue.

Well, I still say you should hang onto the dough. Just since you have knives you actually like. Why not put some good "character" on em?
I know when I was in college I needed money for a lot more than books and tuition (if ya know what I mean). Kinda like Cotton Hill said - knives would be in a long line behind cable, hooch, and skooch. :D
If you just HAVE to spend the money on knives, your idea of the blade swap has pretty sound logic. IF you want the carbon fiber handle paired up with the damascus blade, that'd be the way to go.

Eh I get what you're saying, but I figure I'll have enough money for the "extracurriculars" by the time fall rolls around. One purchase now probably won't have too much of a lasting effect that far down the road.

Anyway, I'm still torn between the damascus reblading idea and getting the rockstead. I think I might go for the rockstead first since it's the more expensive option and I should probably get it out of the way now before my income starts to get tied up in other things. Once I'm on a college budget, it'll be easier to find 400 for the damascus seb than 7-800 for the rockstead.

Speaking of college, right now we're in the middle of an Arizona road trip checking out some of the schools.

Made the obligatory stop at the Grand Canyon.......Awe inspiring doesn't even begin to describe it:thumbup:

Awesome picture! Have a good time! Be sure to remember those 3 P's: Patience, Persistence, and...what was the third one?

Thanks man, will do!

The southern bits weren't all that great, but so far I'm loving the atmosphere in northern Arizona. Really relaxed and friendly, with plenty of opportunities for doing fun shit.
Just the diversity of this place is amazing. You can experience several different climates within just a couple hours of driving. We've been through arid desert, freezing high altitude pine forest, and everything in between:thumbup:

Nice view! Are you taking a look at NAU? My wife got her masters degree there, Flagstaff is a great little city! Some good fishing up around there too.

Yeah man! That's the main one we wanted to look at.

We did a guided tour today and I really liked it. Beautiful campus and the engineering program seems pretty good. I agree about flagstaff too. It's such a great little college town.

Did you happen to get up to Navajo Bridge? There are some California Condors I have seen flying around up there, and the sight of walking over the canyon on the foot bridge is pretty cool. Looooooong drop down to the water. Just across the bridge (north side?) is Lee's Ferry, great fishing there!

Nah, we didn't make it there this time. I'll definitely consider checking it out if I start spending more time in the area this fall.

We've got one more tour tomorrow, then we'll be stopping by Sedona for a quick look. And after that were headed home. Easter break only lasts so long :(

Enjoy Sedona! If you do a pink jeep tour, do the Broken Arrow trail. It's the only one I have been on, but have heard it is the best. And the church built into the hill is quite a sight. How far away do you live from Northern AZ? I moved down here from Seattle, got tired of grey rainy days, the sun is much better! :)

I'm in the LA area, so we had to drive quite a but to get here. But the roads are nice, so I'm not complaining:)

Arizona is great! Do me a favor, stop by Yuma and say hi to some old friends I used to jam with on tours :D

Not sure if this is the right place to share this but I just noticed that a certain online center for knives has the Kershaw Ember in...

For everyone who's been waiting to get one :)

Well, I never thought Id do this, but I went and bought a strider:eek:

Saw an SNG on the exchange and figured why not? Better to at least give it a chance. And if I don't like it, I can get the money back pretty easily and put it towards something else. I figure buying used is better for striders since it minimizes the chance of surprise lock rock or bad fit and finish issues. The owner says this one is solid and smooth. It's one of the newer ones too, and I hear they're much better now than they used to be.

I was originally looking for a nice 3inch XM 18 when I went in there, but went for the strider instead when I saw it.
