The New 2014 BladeForums KNIFE Thread!

Shucks.... :o

I'm happy and proud to work with Charlie and BF! Thanks everyone for your comments and input. :D

The stockman was by Northwoods, although Queen may have made it under contract. I don't know about that part.

The three blade tangs are marked Northwoods, Gladstone, Mich, USA. I don't know who made them either.

Hate to be late to the party, but: "I'm In!"

Thanks to all involved with making this happen. Owning 4 out of the first 8, I hope to keep tilting the ratio in my favor.

Stag is cool!

Jacks back :), thanks Jack, now I don't have to drag out my camera and forum knives to take a pic. :(

After being fairly disappointed with last year's, I'm excited to see what Charlie can do. I'm definitely in for one.

I don't want to get off track here but if you don't mind me asking, what disappointed you about last year's knife? Of all the forum knives last year's was in my favorite top three forum knives along with the Barlow and the Trapper.

Much obliged Charlie. I've been slammed at work and with school and haven't been on much in the last month, so I'm very glad to see a 2014 knife being considered. Kudos to John for the stag as well. I'm lucky enough to own one of his small folders and it's a beauty.

I'll be watching this space...

Thanks again!
Griff

Thanks Ed, Ted, Jack, and all who provided pictures of past BF knives!
They are very helpful for the cutleries.
Queen, Canal Street and Great Eastern have been asked to propose a Forum knife. I am putting in a (to be announced) pattern request, along with one they propose. With any luck, we will have 6 knives to choose from.
The response to Stag handles has been very overwhelming, so I am working on the premise we will accept John Lloyd's most generous offer.

Thanks Charlie and it's good to see you've gone to multiple vendors. These knives are not custom knives; therefore, the overall quality/level of them should not be expected to be absolutely perfect. As to the stag, why not. I think anyone would be glad to have a knife with stag covers even though they may have a different favorite cover material. The name of the game this year ought to be "go with the flow" so, grouchy, ole, Ed is going to go with the flow. Thanks for your efforts.

Thanks Charlie, already we are strides ahead of where I expected. You're working hard! :)

Charlie, is the pattern request you are submitting to the makers the same for all vendors or different for each vendor based on the products they offer?
Also, will the submitted pattern request be determined by poll, or did you already have something specific in mind?

Jack,
What is the first knife? All of the knives are very nice. Smooth lines on the canoe.

Dave

The first one is a ring opener penknife in 1095 and stag, made by Canal Street Cutlery. The second is a canittler, a canoe pattern with three blades set up like a whittler, in Mastodon ivory and D-2, also by Canal Street.

That was the first traditional forums knife, 2006 Canal Street Cutlery Ring Opener Pen Knife. IIRC, there were only 38 made that first time...
