The New 2014 BladeForums KNIFE Thread!

Thanks Charlie for the update. If Canal St is not interested whats the plan moving forward? Can we ask GEC for a design?

I'm okay with GEC as the only option. But of course the pricing could become an issue when they know that there are few additional options for 2014.

I don't foresee that being an issue; this year the final pricing is in good hands. :)

It is nice to hear that Queen isn't going to try and force us into their schedule, it shows good restraint so quality can be maintained, rather than a rushed product. Hopefully they will be able to pre-plan a possible forum knife for future years. I look forward to seeing what comes down the line this year!

Mike, GEC is working on at least one design. I may even have a drawing by Tuesday. This will be a new pattern.

And I just heard today (from a cutler - not official yet) that CSC is working on an interesting variation of an existing pattern. I repeat, this is not official!!
I'm getting excited!!

Don't worry, Rimfire, I have a pretty decent handle on what pricing should be! I have been commissioning knives on a regular basis for some years now!

Thanks for the faith, Sarah!!

We will not pay too much.

Thanks Charlie, either is good for me especially that our buddy Eric works at Canal!!! Yes I am getting excited too!!!

I see, so it would be safe to say you have dispensed with the poll that was talked about earlier, yes?

Can't wait until Tuesday. If Charlie picks it, you know it will be good. Thanks for all your work on this.

Charlie, thank you for taking the leAd on the 2014 traditional bladeforums project. I know we're in good hands. Great news Canal Street may be offering an option.
Thank you again,
Jay

If it's their Barlow frame we're talking of, and they're willing to put "normal" (non-barlow) bolsters, I'll keep my Paypal loaded, just in case :D
A new design for the 2014 knife is surely cool ;)

I wouldn't mind a CSC Half Moon Half Trapper :) (3 3/4" half moon trapper with a pen blade secondary).

No, not safe at all, alnamvet.
I am hoping for proposals for patterns from the cutleries, which I will present to you all as a choice.
Then, you will vote for the one you want. I am hoping to get more than one option from each of the remaining cutleries.
I hope to have something to discuss on Tuesday, but I cannot push too hard. They are busy filling orders. It's always tough to write bids that may not pay the bills, so they will do it when they can.

I have a good feeling about this year's knife...

Thank you...this may be my first BF knife, God willing.

Can't wait to see what they come up with!

Thanks, again, Charlie, for all the hard work you are doing for us!
