The what did you get for Christmas thread!

Got some merino wool field and stream socks, awesome! Tripod for my camera, I'll be reviewing knives, and other gear hopefully soon. White sierra winter pants, these things are warm! Cash that's probably going towards something in the HI sub forums deals. Turned out to be an awesome Christmas.

I forgot...I get to work on Christmas. Ugh...at least I have a job. This makes me think though. Say a little prayer for our troops and their families who can't be home for the holidays. Make sure you thank them when you see them...they've earned it...

An outdoor related gift?

I got this:

This thing's solid - sure to be a good piece of equipment for many years to come.

$100 to buy a Blind Horse knives Bushcrafter. my wife tried to order one , but couldnt' remember which knife. so she just gave me a Christmas card with $100 in it, so I could order my own! :D

I actually did end up getting a few things! My older sister sent me a $25 gift card to Walmart and we headed there to day to buy baby socks. The socks were $6.50 but the rest of the baby selection was pretty lousy so my wife told me to spend the rest on whatever I wanted. Walmart's outdoor/camping selection is pretty crappy so it was a challenge finding something of any quality. I ended up with a magnesium bar/firesteel similar to a Doan, a cheap foam sleeping pad, a pin compass, and 6 fishing snells for my emergency kit! Not bad for 18 bucks. The firesteel doesn't work worth a damn but the magnesium burns. I desperately needed the sleeping pad so I made out pretty good this year. ;)

I got a zebra 12cm stainless pot and a wetterlings 15" hunting axe from bens backwoods, I also got a spyderco white dragonfly here on the forum!!!!!!!

I'm driving to Chicago/Great Lakes Naval Base this week to pick up my son for his two weeks Liberty.

Having the boy home for Christmas is going to be gift enough.

Tell him this old squid says - OutSTANDing.

I'm the last one up here in the kibbutz tonight.

I've had the opportunity to do several projects that matter to me for Christmas.

I guess my main gift in the House is getting to experience the growth- from getting ready to graduate a nursing program (ms. Koyote) to joining the Air Force (Koyote Girl), to bike riding (Leif) and starting to read (Astrid)- even watching Deb turn into a fine young woman from a punk-ass teen kid. It's been a big year around here. I'm so proud of all of them.

I got a Bark River Highland Special, SOG Multi-Tool, and Case Crandall Stockman,
New sleeping pad and sleeping bag. I'm good to go!

I got a Led Lenser P7 flashlight, and a "Loimu" kuksa -cup with reindeer decorations.

Also, as a christmas present for myself, I ordered a Leatherman CS4 :D

Among other things my wife got me a bone scaled, 1095, 3 1/2" patinaed drop point w/high ride leather belt sheath from Matt at ML Knives, (really nice!!). My daughter got me a CRKT Folt Minimalist neck knife and a SOG Contractor 2x4 folder. (Earlier this year she had bought me a Ram scaled handled HOBO from A.G. Russell's.) My daughter and I are currently assisting her nine year old daughter in her own knife hobby! (It never hurts to have another informed gift giver in the family :) !)

Actually the best Christmas gift was watching our Granddaughter's face when she came downstairs this morning and saw the bottom of the tree. Priceless!!!!
