The "Whatever" Thread

Yeah, I spend all day in here hitting refresh every 15-30 minutes. I'm just going to start posting my general questions in here with people who actually care to be helpful haha

I can't stand how slow the forum is. most the time it takes forever to load for me when all my other forums load asap. I really only come in here to John's forum and the busse section. Use to love the wilderness and survival forum until they split it and now it sucks too :(

I've not been able to be round much laterly, but it's the pace i check if i do geta chance. always like to see lots of highlighted threads with things I haven't read yet. wveryweer else i can just hope for two word comments or not much else.

Just got the call, we will be picking up her new Dodge Charger tonight. Woot! I gotta admit, I'm way jealous of her

Looks nice, bet your wife will be happy with that one!

Haha, it's her dream car. You should have seen the grin on her face during the test drive yesterday. It was pretty epic. We are heading to her parents tonight for her Grandmother's funeral tomorrow. We are just going to show up in a new car when 3 days ago we saw them with the old car haha

I've been averaging two inquiries a day from people wanting to order. I take the time to send a detailed quote, then never hear back. I must be doing something wrong, I don't feel I'm over priced, so I'm not sure what the problem is. My only hope is riding on monthly sales. It's got to the point that I can't rely on orders coming in to keep in business.

Worked a double shift last night and today. Looking at over 40 hours overtime for the week not counting one more scheduled shift. It's good to get extra cash but I'll always choose time with my family over work when I have a choice.

As you are spending the time each day anyway may I offer a suggestion with respect -

Probably worth the time to format your web site with a page of all your models - new and old - showing the prices. Now, as it is, if you go to your "WEB STORE" there is nothing on the shelves.

I know that there are variables that change the costs but at least your first reply to someone is to link them to your price list (with photos).

On the same page - provide a list of upcharges per feature, i.e., steel type or handle material and then - only then - encourage those who want true custom designs to discuss those options with you.

As a bonus - you could link to some of the threads about product testing that your "proud supporters" have posted. There is no more rugged knife than a JK and so your pricing is more than warranted. You could be charging more if people knew the difference.

You aren't overpriced but people still want to "kick tires" and see nothing wrong with asking lots of stupid questions at your expense. I'm kind of in the same situation with my work but I don't even have a product line. Everything I do is custom. Talk about wasting time - designing and answering questions often lead to nothing except more practice for me :grumpy:.

Steady on John

One man's 2¢.

Some good points there. Maybe I should do away with the different categories and put every model I am still willing to make on one page to make it simpler for a shopper to compare models?

I think that's a good idea. All a potential customer has to do is scroll down one page to see all that you offer. You could break them down by category and still have them on the same page. That and another page with your options, like handle materials, pins, etc., is all you really need. Maybe also a page with reviews from here, because there are some good ones.

I found out today that I am <probably not> getting furloughed on Monday -- unless I use any vacation between now and the first of July... fortunately, my wife is considered "essential" personnel, and so is also still going to be working next week.

Thats good news...I'll think some positive thoughts and prayers for your continued employment
