The "Whatever" Thread

Hayley has her 13th birthday coming up, so yesterday we went to a small gift shop south of Wilmington. She loves little "trinket" boxes, so we got her a heart shaped one that said Granddaughter on it and is also a music box. While we were there Connie saw a purse she really liked, she kept going back to it and looking. I asked her if she wanted it, she said no, she did not need it (all the while giving me puppy dog eyes). After I paid for the music box we went to the car to leave, I said I better go back in to buy some of their homemade fudge, she could wait in the car. Of course I bought the purse, I`m not totally slow minded! I surprised her with it this morning.
On the way back into town I stopped at the gun shop to buy a box of .38 ammo, and noticed a sign in the locksmith shop window next store that said Case knives. I went in, saw a few, and was ready to leave when the guy behind the counter said the owner opened a knife shop in Braidwood where most of the knives were. We drove the 4 miles to the shop to check it out. Mostly overpriced, but we got to talking knives, and I mentioned I made them. I directed him to my website, he liked what he saw, and said if I wanted to put some in the shop he would sell them on consignment. Might just do that, it can`t hurt.

Romeo indeed! :D nice job John.

and that's cool. another place for folks to see your knives is always a good idea. good luck!

Hi guys, I haven't been around much but I've been dealing with some medical issues and I had major surgery in January. Hopefully once I get thru this recovery phase I'll be back at it. Although I'm not posting I do stop in regularly to keep up with all the JK news..

Wanna know what's better than having your 2 year old throw a fit that results in pooh being liberally applied to both of you and the changing table because it's you changing her diaper and not her mother (who is at work)?

It's having the poop tornado hit while your wife is at work and HER 70lb boxer is outside covered is skunk spray and looking at you for a bath.

Thankfully, and I will testify that it was only through the Grace of God, we are all cleaned up and no one was hurt during the ordeal. Though there is a skunkyness that I can taste, hopefully that goes away soon.

Sounds like fun! You have a Boxer? I love Boxers, I have Stella and my daughter has Bella.

Yes. We rescued Isabell at 6-7 weeks old. She was my wife's "baby" until the real babies showed up. She's a little over 8 years old and still thinks she's my wife's lap dog. This is our 1st boxer and quite the character. I've seen her hurdle a 5 strand barb-wire fence to run down one of the in-laws cats (she killed all of them) and I've caught her standing with all four paws on the kitchen bar eating a bunch of bananas, but she "cannot" get in or out of a car by herself. She will sit and look at me with that hang dog look until my wife says "she's scared, just pick her up." I swear she smirks at me as I set her out of the car.

Oh, the joys of parenthood! The stuff that you look back at and laugh *(hopefully).

Do you have a skunk spray remedy? If not, I have a true and tested skunk dip recipe that makes the dogs' stink almost bearable...may take a bit for me to dig up though.

Thanks guys. After a nights sleep I can start to see the humor in all of it.

I triple bathed the dog in a paste of Dawn detergent and baking soda and it seems to have worked. Isabell was able to sleep in her crate last night and the house doesn't reek of skunk this morning.

The best thing I found for the skunk smell was the Dawn detergent bath then a hunting cover scent sprayed on liberally.
