The "Whatever" Thread

Best of luck to Connie (and hopefully to Meijers for realizing what a valuable resource she will be and hiring her)

Good luck to the better half! I also have a confession to make..... I've gotten a weird urge to buy a little 38 special derringer lately. Anybody have any experience with them (derringers in general regardless of caliber)?

I've got the NAA Mini Revolver in .22 magnum, but no experience with a. 2 shot .38. (Unless you count the original Remington .41 rim fire, I've got one of those)

I know there won't be a problem if you have proper trigger discipline but how "safe" are they? I would carry IWB, I imagine the trigger pulls probably pretty hefty.

I have a couple of the NAA's and I can't say anything negative about them. If I were buying a derringer the first one I would look at would be Bond Arms. I have the Snake Slayer 45/410 that is a lot of fun to shoot. I keep looking at the Backup trying to convince the wife that I want to buy it for her. The barrels are interchangeable on the Bond and they were running a special offering a second barrel for half price with the purchase of a new gun. It may not be the most practical gun I carry but I have confidence in it whether it is loaded with 45 LC hollow points or 3" buck shot. On top of everything else it is a quality made in the USA product.

My brother had a .357 two shot, made by American Derringer, quite a few years ago. He did not care for it. He always had unusual stuff, like the AMT Backup in .45 acp.
The NAA minis have notches between the chambers to lower the hammer down.

John do you have a ballpark on the NAA?

I have a single shot .45/.410 break action that is actually really fun to shoot. I've been eyeing the Bond Arms but want to keep it under $200.

Got a great Saturday lined up. Every year there is a old time music festival at one of Natchez, MS old military colleges.

Its called The Great Big Yam Potato! :D

Now, hearing the name, no one one would ever guess its a music festival. I would guess some sort of strange cooking recipe, but its one of the best times I have all year. Its free to go and to even play on stage if you want. There is even a fiddle contest inside the main hall.

Every year, we bring a blanket to sit on under the old Oak trees and pack a picnic lunch and enjoy the day hearing all the old music that just isn't around any more. I very much appreciate old time music such as this. It really reminds me of whats right in life and also helps direct me where I want to go.

Sounds like you guys have some fun plans! We will be going to Hanna's game , weather permitting.

Maggie and I are going to the Illinois State Track and Field event here in East Peoria - my oldest granddaughter is running the 800, winning the regional event and advancing.

She also won Athlete of the Year at her school, based on her grades and athletic achievements!

Yea , we're proud.

best

Just read that Harris Publications is going of business. They published American Frontiersman, where one of the articles with my Kephart was going to be in.
