The "Whatever" Thread

It was cool and overcast this morning so I got out early to take advantage of the coolness.
Right off the bat I ran into two rabbits so I knew it was going to be a good outing.(mornings usually are)
Nice and cool and critters in abundance.
I saw 12 rabbits, 2 coyotes, 1 garter snake, squirrels and birds out the yingyang and to my surprise, a little guy I believe was a baby weasel.(I had no idea they would be in an urban environment)
The weasel was breakfasting on a little mole or vole or mouse (lets just say a little gray thing) and it ran into the bush with the poor creature in its jaws before I could get my camera out dang it.

And Big Bird.
They were flying low again.
These suckers fly so low they leave vortices that whip the tree tops!(they're kinda loud too)

These next two pics were taken the other day but didn't upload for some reason so I'm including them now.
The first are Madrona Trees and these are the largest I've ever seen so I had to get a pic.
They're native to Pacific Coastal regions from BC Canada to Northern Cali.
Very aromatic blooms.

The yellow down there is Scotch broom, a nuisance plant around here, but the blooms are pretty so I forgive them their invasiveness.

The old Joliet prison is on fire, totally engulfed in flames. It's a really cool looking limestone building that's been abandoned for years, supposedly haunted. The old TV show, Prison Break, was filmed there, as well as scenes in The Blues Brothers.

My Brother Dave(alumni of the JK Knife building course), was an extra on the pilot of Prison Break, he spent a few days in the old prison filming. I was also chosen to be an extra but didn't participate due to work conflict.

I'll have to watch that on Netflix, see if I can spot him.
As soon as the blades are done heat treating I'm going to the range to relax.

had our maiden voyage this past long weekend in the new rig (mitzi bought a new r-pod camper). it worked out good. but, more importantly it let me use the twig mangler a bit. it was my primary knife for the weekend. actually, i think i used it for everything. i'll throw some pics in Andy's twig mangler thread later tonight ...if i remember. i am heading to maine fishing for the rest of the week tomorrow morning. rough life.

Didn't catch much. Had a brother and two brother in laws in tow who don't fish for trout so I spent a lot of time coaching. About the time I had it figured out the women started calling wanting everyone to come cook lunch. Oh well. Still a great time. I will be going back first chance I get. Great area and vacation with the siblings.

I went out this morning, (another cool and overcast day) but didn't take any trail pics because I've posted about as much as there is to see except for the Botanical Garden adjacent to the area I hike around in.
I decided to wander through the garden on the way back to my truck and took a few pics of some of the flora to share now that everything is in bloom.
Bear with me, there are quite a few, but I think I got the best of the bunch.
