The "Whatever" Thread

Ok.....

Open mouth, insert foot....

I also invited the poster to our gathering as well as offering to send him one of my JKs for testing...I think his experiences with JKs were from when John first started out and I believe his current work is more evolved.

Diplomacy is good. Not however a skill I personally posses.

Getting trashed pretty good on the forum I left.

Now this next part is just my opinion, but as far as Off the Map, they are Ok, but Ive owned better, and as far as JK, Id stay away. After owning quite a few custom knives, I think his are way overpriced for what you get, and the fit and finish doesn't touch what can be had in the same range.. As I said this is my opinion, so fanboys stand down.
There are sooo many custom makers, but to me, if they are doing well here, then I think they are GTG. Too many makers don't use their knives for real woods tasks, and they are bought by dudes who look at em and put em in a drawer and hit the keyboard to sing the praise of their GOTO knife with no real time using it. Sometimes no time using it. By maker and owner.

At the risk of getting banned over there I just couldn't stand down since it was my recommendation Moderator J was responding to...

Sorry J,after that dismissal of JK's knives I cannot stand down, especially seeing it was my post recommending him.
I would ask how many JKs have you actually used & how long ago?Perhaps you had an earlier knife from when he was just starting out eh?
Like any good knife maker his work has gotten better after making & selling hundreds of knives & listening to the feedback from his customers over the years.
To say his knives are over priced for what you get is just plain wrong, but like you say..it's just your opinion.
I've owned & used many custom knives & came to the realization that I was wasting my hard earned money on fancier knives when a JK made to my specs at less cost performed just as well.
A knife is just a cutting tool after all & as long as it has a good edge grind,is heat treated properly & is built solidly, it makes no good sense to waste money on one that looks pretty in hand, but doesn't perform any better than a lower cost knife.

Of course the above is just my opinion & the opinion of many satisfied customers that know where to go for a working tool without an exorbitant cost or wait time.

well everyone here he is. Please say hello to Jeremy Alexander! he was born 03-07-2014. He was 21.5 inches long and 7.8 lbs. he had a really rough start. Cord was wrapped tight around his neck. The further out he came the tighter it got. They had to clamp and cut the cord before it was time. They hit the alarm and the nicu teams rushed in and went to work. They got him all fixed but wanted to keep him in nicu for the night. He has now been released to gen pop. And is all clear! And with out further adoo. Here is MR Jeremy with his big sis! Him and mom are both home now and everything is good to go.

Congratulations Grunt!!!!!

Welcome to the JK Forum Jeremy!

Looks like big Sis is just as happy as pop!

Thanks guys. He's the reason I haven't really been buying any knives. He gave me quite the scare. Such a helpless feeling to only he able to sit there and watch hoping for the best. Very scary. I thank god he pulled through and is now going strong.

Another future knife nut! Congrats, GS.

Glad everything worked out well!
