The "Whatever" Thread

creek and river are back down again here -- we need several days of soaking rain before it'll make much difference after the past 5 years of mostly drought.

It is pretty cool to see and hear the sheets of ice hitting each other.

Yep. Still has several feet to go to match last year's though. About 50 yards to the left of the picture is the little stand of trees (currently 3 or 4 feet underwater) that I used for the review of your Beast and Danny's Khukri.

I think I found my land today! Talked to a local farmer and he told me he would sell me 100 acres of his land for a good price, and it is close to town, but yet has lots of woods and cover with excellent hunting and plenty of room to put in an outdoor range and later on a building for an indoor facility.

Might have to sell some cars and motorcycles to pull it off though....

Sounds like a plan.

congrats Andy!
so, yesterday it was close to 70 in Tulsa and I did my best to put myself in a meat coma supplemented with copious amounts of iced tea and topped off with a piece of key lime pie.
today the forecast high at home is 35 and cloudy....

Dang. I would have had a hard time leaving.

Water is going down here, so I will probably spend a good bit of time shooting at pieces of ice that are stuck to trees, and floating through the yard. Moving targets are fun. :D

Good luck on becoming a land baron! I'd be glad to take all of your Brough Superiors off your hands as well as your excess X-75 Hurricanes. Between the ethanol boom and the deer hunters (growers), the price of ground in Cental and Western Illinois sure has not slackened much even thru the recession (depression). What county will your new estate be in? Best of luck! Hope it goes well for you

WOOHOO!!!
I got called back to work today!!

I start tomorrow..it's only for 20 hours a week, but what the hell, I'll take it!
The boss says he'll keep me on as long as he can & give me all the hours he can so I might get better than 20 hours some weeks.

I only need a little better than a year before the guy above me seniority wise retires then I'll be the senior man in my department & pretty much be safe from layoffs as long as some work is coming in.

The weird thing is I had just found out I was eligible to open another claim for unemployment this morning and I was at the unemployment office doing that, then I got home & got the call from work.

Oh happy day,Oh happy day!!

That sounds great! One day I hope to have my own land for hunting, shooting, trapping and whatever else fun I can get into.

Good Luck with the expanding business.

Thanks guys -

Congratulations Mykel!

Well I passed my final evaluation to become a shoot boss for the Appleseed program. It's been a great journey and I'm excited for the next leg of it. It took a lot of hard work to get hear. Not easy teaching history heritage and rifle marksmanship all in one weekend! 0-500 yards. The riflemans quarter mile. If you want to learn about it, check out

Congrats mykel and Andy! Very cool stuff

congrats Mykel and GS -- I need to go looking for an appleseed event near me this spring.

So the first gun I bought is an old Remington model 34. Pretty sweet .22 and it shoots pretty well after getting some new sights. However, it has a little issue. At the end of every tube, it always hangs up on the second to last round. It doesn't eject, so I have to pull the shell out and cycle the bolt several times before it finally catches and loads the last round. Just out of curiosity, I loaded 3 down the tube and it had no issue cycling at all.

When I bought it, they said they replaced the tube and spring, but that is the only thing I can think that would cause the problems I've been having.

Any ideas?
