The "Whatever" Thread

Friday morning while in the woods listening for turkey I had a moment unlike any I had ever experienced. It was as if my world at that point in time was perfect. I'm not sure if it was a combination of the sounds and unbelievable smells that created the moment or some unknown factors but as I stood there drinking in my surroundings everything was perfect.

I wish I had the words to describe it better to share it with you.

I get that feeling quite often. Even just sitting in the woods, taking a break from a hike. Listening to the sounds of nature. Or waking up in the middle of the night while camping to the distant yelping of coyotes. Something about it just feels right.

Happens also at dawn during deer season. Watching the woods wake up and the birds start chirping while remaining essentially unnoticed by your surroundings. I dig it.

Sounds like some hippy stuff, but I guess I am somewhat of a hippy sympathizer. :D

I spent some time away on a little family vacation last week with my wife, daughter, and my parents. Took my new Worker in 440c with me.

Nice score on the Twig Mangler, Ty! That was Todds - I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on the handle etc.

best

Well the twig mangler had to mangle this big twig yesterday. I got a vintage boys axe head off eBay and picked up a West woods handle for a pack axe and the postings eye measurements were way off on the axe head. So with a 4 in 1 file and the twig mangler for heavier removal and about 3 hours of fitting/carving I got it on. The handle is amazing in my hand, the knife fits like a glove whatever grip I hold it in. The edge is still nice and sharp all I need to do is strop it back and it will be good to go. I really like this design and I'm glad I was able to pick this one up. It's Defiantly an A+ design that will execel with any task, but especially more buscraft/wood carving tasks it will just throw chunks out!

Defiantly earned its keep yesterday after the 3 hours of carving not once did my hand feel fatigued. Great design John!
