The "Whatever" Thread

We just got through Indy traffic hell and stopped for something to eat. Chicargo here we come. Enjoy those drinks fellas.

Drive careful!

I am concerned about your trip home - Not sure about John's, but my place is supposed to get 5-9 inches of snow tomorrow on top of freezing rain, starting tomorrow afternoon.

Well - we'll make it work!

It`s supposed to start here around 9 tomorrow night, up to a foot by Sunday night.

Be safe Pete!

I had a gathering of one in the woods yesterday and got to shoot the Savage 24 for the first time since 2013.
I had to sight in the Marbles Bullseye rear sight I put on it and shot 22s, some slugs and #6 shot.
Not bad for iron sights and being as rusty as I am.At least I know how it shoots with the different loads.

Here it is February 1 and finally there is enough snow on the ground in mid-coast Maine to head out on snowshoes. My wife and I are fortunate to own (well us and a bank in Tennessee) 5 acres of wood between a river and a bay that abuts a 130 acre nature preserve. It was a lovely sunny 20°F day here. I had the woods all to myself and some squirrels and a few turkeys that I flushed out of their roosts.

Got to tracking a 3 legged deer. There has been one living in our woods for 5 or 6 years now. I haven't seen it for the past 2 winters. Was pretty sure that it was overwhelmed by coyotes. I would be very surprised if this one I saw signs of today was the same deer but just as surprised that we have yet another 3 legged deer in our woods. If it is the same one he must be a magnificent creature by now. I found one of these antlers near a favorite resting spot of his several years back. I was determined to find the match and after about 3 hours of looking I won the prize -

You can see from this set of sheds that he is not a little guy. Wonder what he looks like now - if in fact they are one and the same. Will need to make a more determined effort to see him. No luck today. I didn't expect to really. I think he was deeper in the woods than I took time to reach. Maybe next weekend :)

Cheers guys, Ray

Hey Myke have you tried this for a load? - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9pnJMQ982GQ&feature=youtu.be

I would not have thought of doing this :D

The Savage 24

RayseM, great finds on the that set of sheds!

I've caught a few big deer on trail cams, and I'd love to find their drops before the squirrels do.

Myke, looks like a good day of shooting. I've yet to shoot an over/under.

Very cool Ray!!

I have only ever found one shed ever, that is really quite a find!

Got about 15" here, it was so deep I had to beat down a path for my dogs! It was over the head of my poor hound dog Penny!

WE only got about 7 inches down here.

When the temps dropped out yesterday evening the roads were toast.

I read about your big snow, hang in there!

At least it is a decent insulator, keep the heat in your garage a little better maybe.

Stay warm!

We got around 17". Drifts up to 3'. Took two hours on and off to free the first car at the end of the driveway. Two more to go and running out of space to pile it.

Snowmageddon 2015!

One of my friends in DesPlaines said he got 17" as well.

And then the blowing and drifting started last night.

Stay safe up there, and do consider a nice 10+hp two stage snow thower

T Shirts available for a limited time!

Andy set up a site for a limited amount of T Shirts. It`s a fundraiser site, but I do not make any profit on theses. It only goes until February 22nd, (or until they have all sold), and there are only 18 more available. If all do not sell you will not be charged. The page explains it all.

Right - we set this up on the fundraiser so we could get a link to post for the supporters -

The site will run the shirts until Feb 22, and if we get 18 more sold (John and I both already ordered one each) then they will print and ship the shirts to each individual that ordered.

If at least 20 are not sold by then, nobody will be charged and we move on.

There is about a dollar of "profit" on each shirt - which will go to John (he did not know that) - I just had to put something in there for the "fundraiser".

The shirts come from Cafepress - so if you have ever ordered from them you'll know they are good quality printing, and these will be on Hanes tagless tees, so they should be nice.

They tack on $5.98 for shipping, and if you are *ahem* a man of size, there is a $3 upgharge for 2xl. ;^)
