The ZT0801

Obviously the Hinderer XM was designed as a fire and rescue knife, so I assume the various Hinderer collaborations will serve for that too. But I really like the details of the Rexford and wonder if it would serve in that capacity as well.

Actually I do have the hardware to do that, and could make a decent job of it... but I'm not sure whether it would look sort of drekky. Might be better to just get a 550 for him, or give him my upcoming 566 and get an 801 for myself. :D
 
Any decent knife would be fine. 0566/0550/0801 wouldn't make any difference.

Well, flipper would be easier to use with gloves, but that's it.

Love it. So smooth! Flips better than any Hinderer, production, midtech or comparable to/better than any or most customs I've had. Just like glass.
 
Thanks for the pics I guess I'm silly because I should've known the blade stock was thick I mean it's a ZT duh!
 
I love that the blade stock is as thick as those other models, yet it feels thinner. The grind is fantastic, and performs like a much thinner knife.

Depends on what he wants to use it for. Some guys just carry Leathermans, a few others including myself carry blurs, Zt 0400st, zt 0360 skd, 0550s. If you think he would like this knife then I would think it would work just fine. Ti won't rust when its sitting in your pocket all day under your bunkers!

Ah, good point. I also should check that his dad isn't getting him a knife. That would be embarrassing. His dad's a LEO.
 
Had my 0801 pimped by Solosknifereviews from youtube, and I think it came out amazing. His work is just awesome, and I'm sending him my 0600 and 0560CBCF to get some work done to those.

Yeah It's not for everyone, but I love the Nuked finish he does. I had my Sebenza 21 Nuked in bronze and it came out awesome too.

What are you going to have him do to your 0600? I've got a second one and I'd like to do something fun with it.
 
That full nuked/distressed treatment doesn't do it for me either.

What I like is the whitening of the screws, pivot and clip.

For example, my Wilson Combat Eagle has a darker gray finish but you can see how well the lack of black makes it look especially the titanium clip.

By the way, the ZT 0801 compares & competes very favorably with the Eagle. Eagle is a bit bigger and more controllable with the nice jimping. However, the ZT has a better flipper and at just under $200 beats out the Eagle's just over $500! Kudos to ZT for such an OUTSTANDING flipper and value.
