i LIKE the new balde stamp and i feel that it is from buck not wally.
it protects the name buck knives and i like the curve....
to me>>>> a new factory and location calls for a new blade stamp!!!
i wish so much they would put the date code on the back !!!!!
what is the price at wally on these... i missed that...
keep wishing for nickel silver and you might get it note i like it also but what ever happened to white brass? any way...
i was reading that at one time NK was only on cheeper knives with chrome plate on the blades ,,,
that all the GooD knives for a real MAN were BrasS !!!

Dave, Here is the original post
I was in a local Walmart today and found two of what I would assume are this years holiday specials. One is a 112 packaged in a tin with a Hoyt Buck commemorative etch on the blade. The other is two knife set which contains a 372 Muskrat and a 380 Mini Trapper, both with jigged red bone scales, also packaged in a tin. I realize the slip joints are offshore production but they do make a nice looking set. Both tins were priced at $25. Happy Holidays to all. :)

thanks goose
i figured thats what it was like , i have been wanting one of them for a while now so its an excuse to buy the knife and like tlc says to hunt down a ns version as a tin that nice should have better than the standard old brass lol
btw whats the story on the squirrel ? its kinda cool

TLC's stand looks different now that he unpacked and took a pic of it. I have mine taking up real estate on my tiny desk with a 112 resting on it right now.

I too prefer NS and am hoping to someday find a 112FG NS. Dave likes brass I'm guessing cause he prob misses shining all that jazz from his Navy days...I dunno.

As for the squirrel...no meaning...just needed to dump it somewhere so I dropped it in my Buck album. I saw it in a store in Jackson, WY on my way to Sturgis and took a pic. I am easily amused.
Have a pic of a jackalope head from Wall Drug and a jackalope drinking a beer somewhere too.

YEA the nav likes all their brASS shiny...yea i miss it ...miss it like i miss montazoomas reviange and that my friend is why i like chrome or NS....

 ...Just finished checking five ( 5 ) WW's in a 25 mile radius around Hudson, Florida where I live and none of them have any of the 112's or the SJ's in yet...Most are not aware of what I was talking about when I was telling them what I wanted but that's not surprizing. I'll definitely grab a few if I get the chance...

I was in one of the local wallies a while ago. Looked around the sporting goods and the knife displays, then on the way out and near the tires was a 4 sided display setup in the middle of the asile. I didn' t get one, but looked them all over. Will wait and see if there is a knife price war this year.

If I drew a 15 mile circle around my house, there would be at least 10 wallys in it. So should be a few available. Life in the big city......ugh...:o

 ...Rodent...You say they had them set up where the "tires" are displayed???...Oh Da_n...

Yup,,,right in the asile between sporting goods and tires. Least this wally is set up with SG in the corner next to automotive.

Anywho......look around in the aisles for a 3 or 4 sided display about 4 to 5 ft tall.

Yeah maybe I am looking in the wrong places too? I may have to go look again. :D

Darryl,
If my parents never had children I never will either. I just caught that :D
True too :)

Thanks for the heads up!!! And excellent description :D
Gotta go!

Cpme to think of it, the Marion Wal-Mart had them somewhat outside of Sporting Goods, towards electronics.

Might do to check around a little.

Yeah,, my tunnel vision took me right to the knife display first. Found the 112 display on the way out of SG dept.... Probably walked right past it going in.

...I see I'm gonna be putting a lotta miles on the ol' Mustang again this weekend...LOL...Gotta do that search routine agin'...:D

Say,,,,to drift a little,,, I was in Sams a week or so back and there were Buck Knife Boots. Would have got a pair but I am boot poor. Nice camo hitop laceup. Rugged looking boot. Couldn't find a knife one anywhere. Boot boxes used the familiar yellow and black with Buck all over the box.. I wuz impressed.

Picked up my "sardine" 112 today at W/W...haven't opened it up yet:p tried to just pull the clampack apart:eek: that I need more strength for. That sucker is sealed tight...I'm just resting...I'm OK...just a few more minutes and I'll go get the 120 it'll be done:D.

These won't be pilfered by mere mortals...

Those of you that have yours are they all 112-1. After I left the store and got all the way home I thought that I remembered seeing a 112-4 as I was deciding which of the ones I thought to be "best". Buck wouldn't do that to us, would they????

Well back to the battle of the clampack...Preston

The 112-4 is the highest quality; assembled by workers with 6 months service or more...the -1's are made by the workers hired today... :D
