Todd Begg, custom knife maker?

Peter just wants to see the knife delivered. It's as simple as that.

Please read this very slowly.

Exactly correct. Give that man a cigar!

I might say the same to you Mr. Hanson, did you read my previous post?, he had a chance at a Scarmaker and said "no".

I'm done, I can't have a discussion with someone who either won't answer questions or can't read all of what I'm saying.

So to be clear..... the knife is finished, now, today, including the sheath, READY TO SHIP NOW, But you want me to wait till after Christmas, which is fine. Just don't want it to be said we didn't have it done by the Dec deadline.

BladeGoblin, I truly appreciate your feelings on this whole episode, but we have honored our offer, building and soon, delivery of a free new generation Scarmaker.......what Peter does with it or the money or whatever is none of our buisness, and quite frankly I am sick to death of this whole thing. Absolutetly none of this acrimonious mud slinging needed to happen, and certainly not in this arena. However, this is where it was aired and here is where it is being settled.

I will try to do a scan of it in a bit and post the pic......in case our word isn't good enough.

Hey, I don't have any hard feelings with anyone on Bladeforums, I consider the knife community my family, this is like when you have a heated discussion with a friend or family member.

I did get put on some members ignore lists, so I guess they don't feel the same way. Oh well.

Send me the picture I can post it.

Anthony

Here are pictures of Todd Begg's Scarmaker. That's as large as I could get them. Todd and Tanya click on the image for a slightly larger version.

It's a beautiful knife, but I am limited to the size of the photo I can upload.

Here's a picture of their picture.

If I had the blade in front of me (hint hint) I could get better pictures, but yes you can see it's done.

Carbon fiber grips?

IF Peter is giving up the knife, at least he deserves to make the donation to his charity himself and be able to write off the donation with the IRS.

BladeGoblin, I did read all of this and only posted after Peter's intentions were questioned. Peter has a solid gold reputation, if he says he will do something, he will, it's that simple. I truely wish the very best for all involved.

Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

PS, I know all the folks here are good people, and I mean no disrespect to anyone.

I have kept my nose out of this as I know both parties involved.

But I gotta say that the latest turn of the thread is wrong BladeGoblin.

I guess it turned that way because Peter didn't say in his post about offering it on the "for sale section" at $1,000 that the money was still going to Doctors without Borders.

I think he felt (and that's how I took it) that it would just be understood that's still what he had planned.

AND IF YOU READ the thread SLOWLY, like you suggested, you'll see that not only is Peter planning on offering the knife at $1000 and (if need be) dropping the price by $50 until it sells then giving the funds to Doctors without Borders.... HIS WIFE'S COMPANY IS GOING TO MATCH THE DONATION DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR.

You'd have a hard time convincing me that he has not taken the best route to try to help out the cherity as much as possible from this venture.

As to the whole dealings between the Peter and Tanya... I have ZIP to get involved with on that. It's not my business to.

But regarding Peter's character, he has been really great for me to deal with as a maker, and I know him well enough to know he has no intentions of pocketing the money "because he has his eye on another bowie."

I'm glad it's getting finalized for everyone :)

BTW- AWESOME SCARMAKER TODD!!! :D

Nick, why are you giving me a synopsis, when I have been involved in this from the beginning?

My reading comprehension is at a 7th grade level, so actually I don't need to reread anything that's been said here.

Thanks for sharing, but when someone calls out one of my favorite makers I take it personally, much like everyone in the knife community who has favorite makers and defends them when they're insulted.

BG, we have spoken a few times, I don't think you're a bad guy, however, I think here you are incorrect. You say Peter's decision as to how to proceed doesn't make sense to you, but, the truth is, it doesn't have to, it makes sense to Peter, and he has every right to proceed any way he feels is best.

I understand, if you look at this very logically, his choice as to how to proceed might not make perfect sense to some, but, it isn't exactly way out there either, and the fact is, when humans are involved, there is more to a decision than sheer logic, people are creatures of habit and idiosynchracy, sometimes they feel like doing something a certain way for their own reasons and have their own thoughts on how something should be done, and I know Peter well enough to guarantee that when he says he will donate the proceeds, he will, and his wife will match, so, again, his course of action is hardly non-sensical, it might not be the way you would choose, but, it's not your knife, or choice.

I will say however, I would have liked it if this whole thing had been handled privately, and/or differently, I respect Peter, and I do understand why he did what he did, but I personally wouldn't have done it this way, I would have handled it privately, the Beggs have a great reputation, things happen that interfere with a schedule, even to the best, most honest makers, this seems like a rare exception for Todd, and if that's true, he didn't deserve this thread. On the other hand, not sure how I'd feel if I were in Peter's shoes, the wait was longer than it should have been, I think we can agree on that. Nobody's clearly right or wrong in this.

Ultimately, as often happens in the world of forums, you have 2 good, honest people, who get into a bad situation and it is the nature of forums like this to allow these sorts of problems to snowball and take on a life of their own, even if the parties might not have intended it to end up that way.

This is done as far as I can see, good people, bad situation, with a dose of internet forum, negativity spiralling thrown in.

Hopefully, since it looks like the knife is on it's way very soon, this thread can now die a peaceful death, and thankfully disappear.
