Tomorrow's chopper sale and the random number generator

My original plan was overridden, (without malice or heartburn), as Nate wanted to bias the selections toward those who were able to respond quickest when the bell rings. So I have stepped aside.

The prime number method is a brilliant idea, in my opinion, but it's not what I envisioned when I was first recruited by Nate to run the random generator to encompass and select from, (without any pre-programmed bias), all of those members who would respond to the thread within the first minute or so.

I still think it's an improvement on the way things were run previously, and hopefully it will help get more product into the hands of those who do not have the fastest connections, nor know all the devices or "tricks" to increase their odds...(of which I am personally ignorant).

Good luck, fellas.

This pre-programmed method is more fair than you might think. The first winner is post #3 so those with fast connections and device 'tricks' will be hesitant to go for pole position as achieving it guarantees failure. (you've got to avoid being #1 or #2). You also get better odds being early, so there's a tradeoff. The game will slow down the 'quick draws' making a more level playing field.

It will be interesting to see how fast members will adjust their strategy!

Yeah, I'm pretty well aware of how it works...as well as the psychology.

For clarity, my first post is post number one

Probably the move would be to wait a 1/2 second delay

But then the problem is, you know the other fella's doing that too

So maybe you do a one second delay

But then the problem is, you know the other fella's doing that too

So maybe you do a 5 second delay

But then the problem is, you know the other fella's doing that too

So maybe you do a 5-minute delay

But then the problem is, that's completely retarded

Disagree, fast sub-group advantage is only 1-2 seconds which is about how long they'll delay to make sure they're not #2. So, those not in the fast sub-group should simply go as fast as they can, then they'll be right in there with the fast ones. That's a big improvement.
And those who don't cheat.

Im think the closest to fair (for the buyers) would be to track sales and disallow consecutive purchases. Thats obviously not fair to the sellers as it adds even more work and possible problems.

It really is tough to fix the disparity between the haves and have nots. Even if we all agree in wanting to fix it.
