Traditional "Holy Grail" Knife: What's Your Pick?

Hi,

Pretty simple for me. A Camillus #21 Pony Jack just like my Grandfather's. I don't why, but I haven't found one yet.

Let me look when I get home...I think I have one or two of those. I'll give you one if I do.

My grail knife would be wharncliffe trapper by either Tony or Reese Bose.

Like most people, a knife by Tony or Reese Bose would be IT, but I honestly can't say what one. For now, I have my Grail knife, a Joe Allen Serpentine Jack in stag with Wharncliffe main blade in S30V & small Pen blade in ATS-34.

Here're a couple junk pics. It's the one on top.

Very neat thread...great pics.

You always ask the best questions, Elliot. My grail knives were both made by Ken Erickson, which I think is indicative of the good taste that we both have in makers and Ken's good taste in patterns.

The first would be one much like your cattle knife, but I'd want mine with spear, spey, and punch blades, instead of the configuration you requested. The other is this replica of a Challenge trapper that Ken recently made for some lucky soul. Something about that clipped spey blade just speaks to me.

Both of them in O1, please.

James

if he posts a toenail like the above, i'll cry:D
Blues and Waynorth's collections are 2 collections i intend to haunt when i leave this mortal coil:D
cheers

I think my answer would have to be a stockman with ivory scales by Tony Bose or a the "Blues' Pattern" trapper that Don Hanson made for you.

I like the way you think, James.:cool:

Gene, I have an old sunfish of Don's from the early 90's in rosewood and damascus but nothing near the one represented above. Found as a bargain here on the forums:

Wagglebee, I was very fortunate to have had that great trapper made for me by Don. That he associated my forum name with it is just an honor.

Thanks all for the kind words.

And now I'll bow out of the thread for a while unless summoned before Comoha comes a gunnin' for me...;)

This thread should be named "Holy Grail" knives, not knife coz I'm having a real hard time picking out just one. Too many nice choices to have just one but for now till I change my mind again, it's this LC by Tony Bose. Stag might not be my favorite handle material but this one is just killa!

well Blues, Do me a favor and post my grailknife, Its your Ken Eriksson with the small clip. You seem to own more than one grailknife and yet you have a grail of your own to hope for. My grail in produktions is the puma 667 prospector and of those I lucky enough have 2 but would by more if the opportunity showed within a reasonable price. Unfortunately old Pumas dont just flout around mush and the owners know they have good merchandice. My dreamknife to ovn right now is a micarta shadow ant on that one Im on the rigth road.
Take care of my true grail maintime.

My Grail knife is still a Menefee spear point folder. I actually missed one on E-bay not too long ago, and I'm sure I'll be kicking myself for not pushing the button for a while.

Here's a similar one posted by texasflyfisher, if I'm not mistaken.

That is one neat looking knife. Can that bottom part be used as a bottle opener? That would be really neat.
Mine is a simple Case Scout/camp knife. I know it's kind've dull for a holy grail knife, but I've always wanted one. The older, discontinued one, not their current offering. I have SAKs and a Camillus with the scout pattern of tools, but there's just something about the old, brown jigged bone (or jigged delrin, not sure) that I've alwatys loved. Never had one. Always get sniped on the bay when I go for one, so I stopped trying, have only handled two, but would love to one day have one of these guys.

I could probably never afford this, but it's my favorite slipjoint of all time.

As a Schrade collector, some day I hope to find one of these. In the meantime I enjoy the hunt.

You've selected my Grail knife also wolfmann, but mine would be a lockback like the original.
As far as I know, no custom maker has made one yet. When Tony designed it for Case, it was specified as a slipjoint. I'm lucky enough to have one of Tony's, and I hope my name is nearing the top of the Old Dog's inspiration list for a lockback!!
It's a lot harder to make, and I think the planets have to be aligned just right!!:D

Yes, it's the Stockman for me, too.

Guess I'm just a boring person with nothing new to add ... to this thread.

Always had a soft spot for jack knives. Simple design, useful, just purdy to hold and use.

The Case/Bose Dogleg Jack, for me, ever since I eyed one awhile ago, would be my grail. I just googled for a pic, but now my keyboard is so full of drool, I can`t type anymore:p

But, I would glue that sucker to my pants if I owned one;)

So many grails; so little cash :(. This Norfolk whittler by Ryu would certainly be nice.
