That sounds pretty good, Alan. Counting knives, I'm guessing the small boxes are about 8" x 8" x 1.5"?BTW Gary, the smaller boxes are inexpensive. Two boxes and two sheets of foam cost me $14.75.

A bunch of hard working knives in a toolbox... That's perfect!View attachment 995247 View attachment 995248
Found this box in the dumpster lol. Little oil on the hinges and it works fine. It'll do for now.
I agree. When I see a knife, it typically falls into one of two categories; A collector piece or a tool... Never a weapon.JohnDF I guess it fits my philosophy on knives in general. When I hear "knife" I think "cutting TOOL" I think tool first weapon last, is a knife a weapon, sure, but so is a hammer.
Nice tool box for your knives, MH!View attachment 995247 View attachment 995248

That would be a fantastic chest, David!!5K Qs thanks GT, my current collection has already filled this one almost completely lol. I'll probably pick up a tool chest with drawers eventually. This would be nice View attachment 995280 lol, my Dad was a mechanic by profession for about 40 years as well, he has this exact chest. He got an exceptional deal, he bought a mobile shop ( converted bread truck) with tools and this box and a smaller one for less than what just this box alone goes for. ( 5,000-7,500 used
)Lowes actually has some nice chests smaller and much less expensive, that'd be great for knife storage

I just finished this guy up today, by this time next weekend it will be full of knives. I’m thinking either Schrade or Benchmade. This’ll be the last one I refurbish for a while.

Does anyone have experience with this one from Harbor Freight?

Good idea. Some nice storage options displayed here.
My growing collection is comprised about 33 folders and things have got to the point where it's time for something better than the top drawer of a file cabinet.
This is what I came up with today puttering around with scrap wood in the basement workshop. I want to keep the file cabinet drawer going as long as I can. I used to just lay the knives in there on a piece of cloth, but they'd slide around each time the drawer opened and closed.
I recall hearing the Japanese are so pressed for graveyard space that the bury folks standing up. So I applied that space-saving theory to my drawer. I stood the knives up. Just drilled some holes in a piece of wood made to sit in the drawer. I also mounted feet on the wood, higher in the rear so it'll sit at a tilt. Smaller, shorter knives up front, larger taller ones at the rear.
It turned out pretty well.
I've picked up knives at an increasing rate since rejoining the forum last fall...just can't seem to stop for some reason. Am I alone, lol?!
